Along with the Win 95 their both classics! The Dura Ace equipment with the faux Campy Delta brakes is unique!

The Aero-Miyata or Koga-Miyata FullPro-A didn't use a frame like this. Their frame used more drop shape tubing and frame parts, was fillet brazed and imo it looks much more refined.

No because the operating principle is different. These early DA are more akin to slimmed down and center mounted Suntour RollerCam

I owned both the Nishiki Aero and the Aero Miyata ,the Nishiki frame was all braised tubing and was very nice,the Miyata was cool but very heavy,this is the nicest of the three,Nishiki was stolen,sold the Miyata but kept the one piece seat post and saddle which are also Dura Ace 7300 AX Check the link for the full series,check out the 7 gear(23-12) wave tooth cluster,everything is all allen wrench and made for braze on fittings,notice no bolt on the stem,rear derailer is solid and i mean solid best ive ever seen.

I owned a Jan Janssen aerodynamic bicycle. I do not know who the builders was, but it was from Japan and it showed a lot resemblance with this frame. Actually I think it could be the same, apart from that the Apollo frame has more features. My Jan Janssen was also only a '600AX' equipped bike. I would almost also think that the Panasonic AR-6000 has the same origin.

What surprised me on the Jan Janssen was the relative crudeness and also the weakness of the construction. I could easily squeeze the blades toward eachother with one hand. I am not sure whether it was ready for the cobble stones. Maybe the Apollo is not the same at all and much better. Anyway, these bikes are classics and we will never push them to their limits anymore I think.

In Holland we didn't have Aero-Miyata, but sister Koga-Miyata FullPro-A:

I could imagine all the brazing and aero frame parts add weight. Rigidity could also trow a coin in.

It is a very cool groupset. What do you mean with solid rear derailleur? Sturdy, durable? I think I am not so lucky in encountering mechs that don't have the plastic bit undamaged. Like many parts in the AX groupset they suffer from plastics that fade and fall apart over the years. From the durability perspective I am more fan of DA EX or 7400. 1st gen has too many chrome parts (that rust) and AX too many plastics.

From the durability perspective I am more fan of DA EX or 7400. 1st gen has too many chrome parts (that rust) and AX too many plastics. yes this rear derailleur is solid ,you shift it goes into gear no clicks or skips and then it stays,solid.No ticking clicking it just shifts and thats that.This bike runs silent ,absolute silence.and in the wind headon those aero tubes seem to help believe it or not.
