Hi all,

I have been looking for a way to use my iPhone for navigation while doing my tour in the states. the ACA maps use the .GPX-format, which is XML-based and should be accessible to a lot of different software.

However, the only app I have found so far is MotionX. Unfortunately, it is horribly cluttered and only takes a maximum of 400 waypoints, which is far too little.

Have any of you done this - and if so, what app would you recommend?

Cheers!

Don't bother: the .GPX files that ACA provides are worthless. Or at least the ones I downloaded a couple of years ago for the Pacific Coast route were pretty worthless. I found it was easier just to re-draw the ACA map inside my favorite mapping program (MapMyRide, BikeRouteToaster, RideWithGPS, etc) than to try to get the ACA files into usable shape...

Edit: And an iPhone makes a pretty poor navigation device. Not weather-proof, overheats easily, poor battery life, and the screen is impossible to see in direct sunlight. At least on my iPhone 4. My Garmin Edge 705 does a much better job!
