Picked it up at a tag sale today. rigid MTB, 18 speed, cromoly frame, shimano components. Front wheel is quick release. Rear is not. Everything works. 15 bucks.

Bought it for my son. Hopefully, this will get him off Xbox for awhile this summer.

I don't suppose this thing is actually worth anything, is it?

The guy also has a rather nice univega MTB, rock shock, spd pedals. But, he wouldn't budge off his 100 dollar asking price. More than I'm willing to spend until my son actually shows some interest in riding.

No, not worth much. But I am sure you can get more than $15 value out of using it.

Probably not worth much. It's a good buy for $15, though. The Spaulding road frames were Ishiwata 022 or 024, can't remember which. Decent enough cromo tubing. So that frame might be a pretty good midrange quality. Lugged steel mountain bikes are getting harder to come by.
