Is Ti a suitable material for a cross bike spindle. Does it wear faster?

I expect the bearing races cartridge type are steel.. are you light? 150# or less..

I weigh 215 lbs and I don't race.
It came to my attention I may need to replace my spindle for length adjustment, so I'm thinking about upgrading while I'm at it.
If Ti isn't a good choice, could you recommend something else?

At your weight, Ti is probably off the selection list for most components. Most of the Ti components I've seen top out in the 160 - 170 range for suggested weight limits.
If you're not racing, deal with the weight penalty and just go with steel. It will last longer and is less likely to break on you. Even my SRAM Red crankset has a CrMo spindle.

UN55 are sold in a variety of lengths .. all JIS taper
Phil Wood Co makes both ISO and JIS, and the spindle is Stainless steel..
And as a press fit in the bearing cartridges , Phil's axle offset can be tweaked.
