Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Forum slowness, all areas from mutiplle locations

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am not one to normally complain but lately, BF has been extremely slow. You click a link and it takes a good 10-20 seconds before anything happens.

And quite often, I will get a generic timeout browser error message popping up instead of the page. Hit refresh and then after the delay, the page will usually pop up.

This occurs on multiple computers from multiple locations in both WA and ID. And its occurring on both Mac and WIndows.

At home it occurs on my dsl and my neighbor's cable internet. And it occurs from different computers at my work.

Any suggestions?

What browser are you running, or browsers, I should say?

It's been doing this a lot for me too. Extremely slow since the upgrade. Google chrome (18.0.1025.151 m) on Windows 64-bit. ISP in France.

I have IE9, hit or miss if the section or thread will open, or reply to thread will complete, regardless the number of refresh attempts.

There have been some general network issues that may be contributing to this. I do know tech is trying to resolve the problem, and they've been making some progress, happily. Just for grins and giggles, if some of you IE users would try the mobile view of the forums, and let me know if it works better....That might help us see what issues are causing this. It's down on the lower left of the main page. If you switch to the default mobile view, you'll get a much lighter weight version of BF. It was set up for iPad, iPhone and Android, but it renders well on a laptop or PC screen as well, and loads faster. I use it with my aircard, because it has a slow connectivity speed. It makes it much easier for me to view and use the forums securely when not at home.

Try it and let me know how it does for the IE issue.
