Not really on the team, but i did get the bike! It's a 54cm 1984 Team Fuji all original components. I love this bike and everything about it :). My good friend gave it to me for a great deal, a little over $200. One of the best riding bikes i have ever owned. I was wondering how high end this bike was.

It's up there, Owen. "Team" generally means "up there in the lineup."
It's an excellent frame, from what I've seen, and the Fuji aficianados will be along, I'm sure.

Ride hard. (I got the shifters working, just tons of gunk. Glad it worked out for you.)

Good to hear about those shifters, I ended up selling the Frejus frame for $200 + A frame of my choice from this really nice guy up in Los Angeles. There should be some Fuji pictures up right now. I just upgraded the bars and stem to a Cinelli 1A and 3TTT Forma anatomic bars. I would also like to upgrade to a 7 speed freewheel and Ultegra bar end shifters. This will be a great build.

Welcome to the team! It's a nice one, just below the Professional and the Opus III in the racers. It looks great!

The Team Fuji is a wonderful riding bike. I just did a 30 mile ride on my 1985 yesterday.

Congratulations on your catch!
Maybe those that know Fuji well, like scottryder and khatfull, will chime in.

Almost done with the overhaul of this one; I'm trying to sort out what brake levers and bar tape it will have.

I have a 1986 Team Fuji. It is a nice ride. I rode 62mi in the Hotter than hell last year in Wichita Falls, Texas. However it's mainly my Daughters bike. I made the mistake of riding a week ago. Now I want it back.

I have a yellow saddle that would look good on that thing, now that I no longer have a bike it matches.

I already threw on some blue/yellow Cinelli splash tape, looks like it was meant to be. The saddle that is on there now is only temporary, i'm looking for a nice blue/yellow one to match. I still have some more cleaning to do but i will post another pic soon.

Thanks for your help!

That's an 1984 Team and it's either a 52 or 55cm they didn't make a 54cm. It's a fantastic bike. The Opus lll and the Professional are the only two above the Team.

I've never owned a Team, much to my dismay. I did have an '83 Team come thru before it's facilitation to C&V member Flash in FL.

Man, you couldn't steal a bike that nice, let alone find one on a curb! I'm sold, Team Fujis are right up there with the best. Another proof that 1984 was a vintage year for Japanese bicycles.

Just an update, This bike is great. It currently has some Suntour GPX downtube shifters, they work much better. I was wondering what "quad butted" means. I also wanted to know what would be a good wheelset upgrade for this bike. In need of toe cages too.

Thanks

Congrats. The Opus III, (one model higher than the Team), is one of the most enduring frames in my collection. I'd really like to have a Team. As I understand it, the Team Fuji is the sweet spot in the lineup. As far as I'm concerned, "quad butted" means it's good.

Nice bike, i joined Club Fuji about a year ago. It did not have the original wheels. When you upgrade let me know, i will take your stock wheels. As you see i live in Downey. Mine came with Ole bits which are well worn. I am going to keep the aero levers and nitto stem, i need to change the rest. The Club Fuji ride is very sweet as well. Nice catch. Mine is red with yellow and blue. It only had one cage on it with ole pedals.

LAriverRat, i will be sending you a PM about those wheels. I know it's too soon to upgrade the bars and stem again, but i have some ITM Pro team bars and NOS Miche brake levers i want to install. Just waiting for a good stem. However I will be keeping the old aero levers and 3ttt bars for another build or safe keeping. This bike should be kept all original, but i can't keep myself from upgrading the hell out of it . Who knows what it will look like next week.

I was wondering what "quad butted" means.

It means the tubes vary to four different thicknesses. The numbers 9658 are the thickness of the steel in mm.

A little late to the party, but finally got around to taking pics of my 83. Nice ride, I used it for years. However, my recent tastes are for larger frames so it's officially declared too small for me.

Welcome to the team. I have had mine for about 4 weeks now. It's a 1986 in the Black Flamingo paint scheme.

That 1984 is a nice looking bike!
