Newbie... first post. Got a used bike. Has U lock around the frame... no keys as usual. Please help getting it off. Thanks.

And how did you come into possession of this bike?

I bought it covered with dust at a garage sale with flat tires and a rusty chain. Clarify: the bike is not 'locked', just the lock is fastened around the frame, not put back in the plastic clamp where it belonged. Guess I'll use an abrasive wheel.
Was hoping to salvage the lock somehow.

I've never tried it, but it's probably the cylinder lock type that can be defeated with a Bic pen.

A circular saw with an abrasive cutting disk will do it.
If you dont have one, just use a hacksaw to cut through the frame, that should free up the u-lock.
all of the above plus freon, I would google the bic pen trick however, it is the quickest.
