Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - need a rain frame. 700c, horizontal drop outs, room for 35mm + fenders

I only need a frame. I have everything else on a too-small frame and i want to fix it now.

What is out there that is available as a frame-only? I might buy some used POS from CL but I am curious as to what's available new.

Track ends make it hard to take off your wheel with fenders. I would keep an eye out for used. Used craigslist does not mean POS.

aluminum and forward facing adjustable dropouts is not a very common combo.

get quick release fender mounts from a front SKS, put it on the back, and use a rear facing aluminum frame. like a hounder or something.

130mm? I don't know of any Al frames with 130mm spacing and horizontal drop outs

Go with something like an old Nishiki Custom Sport from the 70's/early 80's, or a older Raleigh with sports touring geometry. Don't butcher off the cable stops or derailleur hangar, either. You'll have room for nenders, and worst case, you might need to put a long reach brake up front to use 700c wheels, assuming you don't ride brakeless. The steel frame will be easier to fit to a track hub, since they can be compressed or spread, unlike aluminum. Just rust treat the inside of the frame while you have it all apart, and you'll have a nice conversion that'll last you decades.

I ride a 1971 Nishiki Custom Sport and just throw on some Planet Bike clip on fenders for wet or snowy weather.

Trek Earl. Not aluminum, but forward facing dropouts and plenty of clearance for fenders. Frame is thick cromoly steel, good luck thrashing that one.

I vote conversion. I have a Fuji Supreme from the 80s that I use as my rain bike. Got it for 5 bucks at a garage sale, slapped some fenders on and a wheelset I had sitting around. There's a little toe overlap, but I can't complain.

edit: And you're not going to be able to easily thrash some old steel bike. They don't make em like they used to.

I agree that the dropouts are PITA, but I'll deal with it. Everything else is freaking perfect.

Ive never heard of this bike, and usually hate these mass produced things, but I'm diggingit.

+1. full fenders are the only fenders worth having if you're in riding in snow and rain, and taking them off or trying to take a wheel off w horizontal or track dropouts is a PITA.

3/4 fenders work until you start going faster than 10mph and don't care about your feet getting soaked

Sounds like my cross check, it's steel though. I thrash about in the rain quite often on the thing.
