Good Morning. Found nothing in "Search"...has anyone toured the lighthouses of the Oregon (USA) Coast? Can it be done via bike or is it motorcycle at best? Thanks. Happy New Year!

Not sure where the lighthouses are.......

I toured the coast from Astoria to Florence a few years back.

There are lots of good campgrounds (with fun tsunami warning signs)

The roads are left to be desired. I stayed on PCH. Very beautiful road, with decent blacktop, but there are RVs EVERYWHERE! Its like a parade for Mr. Winnebago's 100th birthday over there. At one point, on a downhill, one was so close to me, I reached out and was able to pound on the side of it, as he passed me going about 10mph faster than I, a reminder to him that I was there.

BUT, I would much rather have those RVs than the logging trucks on PCH in Washington state.

All in all, a good tour, just be on the up and up with traffic.

As for lighthouses, I was on the coast the entire time, but cannot recall lighthouses..... Are they further down? Or was I too concerned with the beautiful cliffs and beaches? (my reason for going)

That is Oregon State Parks. The Coast Guard has control over only a few lights anymore, as they have been outdated by technology, many were turned over to state government or local historical societies and some to private individuals. I believe Oregons' are all state owned as is the ocean waterfront.

Most lighthouses are off the main highway and tucked on the edge of a bluff amidst houses now. Inquire at towns when you go through, cant always see them from road.
