Maybe this should have been in the Light Forum but it has more to do with touring.
Anyone have an idea on how to attach a rear light to a BOB Trailer?

Why not just put it on the bike?

Top of the flag pole?

That is what I've always done. I don't think attaching it to the pole would be practical. Seems like it would be whipping around too much.

We do have a light on the rear rack. We ride a tandem and have a truck bag while touring. I was thinking just a bit more visibility.

Can you replace the reflector on the BOB with a taillight, such as the Blackburn Mars 4.0 (http://www.blackburndesign.com/lights/mars-4-0-rear.html) or similar which are a fender mount?

I put a light on my trailer (not a BOB, but similar) by removing the reflective light. Of course, it wasnīt a perfect fit, but thatīs why duct tape was invented! I didnīt care if it was pretty, just that it was seen.

There's no good place to mount a taillight on a BOB, mostly due to it's low height.

10 Wheels' solution is a good one - I've done nearly the same thing (with a D140 and 1" PVC).

I supplement my primary taillight with a PBSF or similar fitted to back of helmet. Not ideal since the aim is frequently changing and sub-optimal, but the red flashing glow from my Scotchlite-covered helmet hopefully catches oncoming motorists' attention.

What is the deal with the "plates" on the wheel?

I'm curious too. It looks like they might not be plates, but rather the hub itself. Dynamo? Drum Brake?

Interesting... I should have recognized it, having seen one before on a bike.

I put a taillight on my Trek 520. The light was powered by a rotating magnet fastened to the spokes. Enough electricity would be stored in a capacitor in the taillight for the light to operate even while stopped. Too bad the light is no longer available.
