Introductions - Hello World.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm from Northern California, middle of the wine country.
I currently am riding a Proflex 857 frankenbike that I have owned since the late 90's, and a modern Schwinn Tourist road/hybrid box bike that I picked up from Target with a gift cert. I also have an ancient D.K. Harris girls cruiser that I am trying to research. I will try to get pics of it into one of these forums some day. :D
I have been riding since I needed training wheels, more specifically since I was a kid. I have owned Bianchi, Cannondale, and many more that I have forgotten. I have primarily ridden MTB for most of my life and got the Target bike to play around with the idea of making a poor mans cyclocross/hybrid. :thumb:
Lately I tend to spend more time messing with my bikes than I do actually riding them.
I am not a bike snob, nor am I a bike noob...
My creed is that if you enjoy your bike, sweet! No need to brag about it, because chances are, the only people who care, are the people waiting to one up you, and who wants to talk to them? :notamused:

Old picture of my Proflex from Jack London wolf house in Sonoma.
In this pic I was still using Continental street slicks, Brahma long grips, and my old KHS seat.

Got me some Teny mag-alloy rims
(they are heavy, but have windmill perpetual motion technology LOL)
Also you can see an aftermarket Hammerhead disk brake adapter that is special for retrofitting disk brakes on a Proflex. Also got some BB5 mechanical disks, though the pads are still not broken in yet. Also have moved away from the street slicks in favor of Continental cruiser tires, which work amazing well in loose gravel.

After the Teny rims, but before the disk brakes.

My $259 Target Schwinn Tourist, fresh out the box. I did add some cheap Summit bar ends, hopint it would fulfill my desire for a set of Scott AT-3's (like on my Proflex). Sadly though, no such luck. Bar ends just don't cut it.

Ditched the Kenda slicks that came stock and replaces them with some nice Ritchey Excavators. Also ditched the straight bar and barends for a set of butterfly/trekker bars... Butterfly bars are ok, but they are still not Scott AT-3's :bang: The bend on the gooseneck that sets the bar back over an inch is really annoying.. However still better than bar ends!

Hahaha I haven't done any programming since the Commodore 64, but have worked on computers since I was 10. I was a network engineer for a short while, but now I work in wine logistics, because its way more fun :thumb:

I wish I were better at writing code, lots of options out there. I'm just far too forgetful though.
