I'd like to know the best way to proceed. I have a 1982 ish Schwinn Raleigh Sportif. Ridden less than 20 miles at the time (seriously) and has been stored since. Obviously the tires need replaced. Do gears, cables, levers, brakes... all that need replaced or can be restored? Thing is, it's too TALL for me to ride and it's a men's bike, I'm not ; ) Or, is this bike worth $$ to a collector? Would appreciate any input~248454

It's a lower-end bike but still worth money. As far as the tuneup, if you don't have the tools/experience to do this yourself you're better off just selling the bike as-is and letting the next person fix it up.

Give it a bath, take some better pictures from the driveside (right side) and I'd say you could probably get $75-100 depending on your location.

Also, it's not a Schwinn in any way shape or form. Just a Raleigh Sportif.

It is not worth anything to a collector. Its value is as a basic bike, +1 sell as is, or you will likely be upside down on it. $75 to $100, unless you are in a red hot market. At a shop, it would cost $200 to $250 to make it fully road worthy. To someone with the tools/time/aptitude/access to parts, they could do it themselves for about $40.

Thanks so much ; ) I have no idea why I thought Schwinn... I ride in a cycling group, I will ask if somebody would like it.
