So, today I climbed 4,993ft over 57.7 miles, in under 4 hrs (3:59:25) on the bike, and burned 2,846 calories! Feeling good! Starting to get hydration and fuel down for the ride.

Hills suck!

Connecticut has hills? Who knew?

I used to live up in Enfield and worked in Windsor. It's a nice area.

That's a heck of a day on your bike, nice work.

Oh and by the way - you should join the clyde Strava group. It's a social site, so be social. :)

Avance, where abouts in IL. YOu can find some descent rollers closer to the river valleys, and if you plan your route correctly, you should be able to get a total cumulative climb in elevation (without subtracting the downhills) of a couple thousand easy...if not go to iowa, it may look flat, but trust me that is a deceiving notion.

Right....next time I will use my eyes instead of asking impatient questions... immediately after posting I noticed you say you are from Maryville, IL. If memory serves me correctly, that is in fact in a river valley. IM sure Google maps can clear that up for me. I gre up outside chicago, and I agree with the winds. I was under the impression that farther southern parts of IL had some decent hills.... sorry for my enthusiastic although rather unthought previous post.

Cheers.
