I know several members use lyrics in their sigs(unlike myself-although...it's probably a lyric in more than one song), but I was wondering what lyrics really fire you guys up...or make you cry in your beer. Whichever.

I'm really fond of this, for starters:

Sitting here like uninvited company
Wallowing in my own obscenities
I share a cigarette with negativity

Soundgarden, Drawing Flies, from Badmotorfinger

I've heard this song a couple times this weekend off my mp3 player-that's why it comes to mind first. Dunno exactly why I like this part so much, but these lines in particular speak to me for some reason. I guess it appeals to me because I can totally relate to the sentiments(or my perception of them) in these three lines.

Dead Kennedys - Kill the Poor
mmm...satire

on a more serious note, when heard with the song:

Deeper than Inside (Rites of Spring):
I'm going down, going down, deeper than inside
--the world is my fuse--
And once inside gonna tear till there's nothing left to find
And you wonder just how close close-up can be?
Can't you see? Can't you see?
I had a dream all my thoughts turned to real lips
--and the world is my fuse--
And just a dream, just a dream can bring me to my knees
And you wonder just how tight skin deep can be?
Can't you see? Can't you see?
I'm goin down, going down, deeper than inside
--the world is my fuse--
And from inside, outside can just fall apart
And you wonder just how lost inside can be?

Try me. Try me.

(this song launched me 25 miles day a while back, each day.)

It’s not what you look like, when you’re doin´ what you’re doin´.
It’s what you’re doin´ when you’re doin´ what you look like you’re doin´!

Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, Express Yourself

Great song, but these lyrics just make my brain hurt. Redundancy pains, I reckon.

The Smiths have not yet been equalled in my opinion for poetic and thought provoking lyrics:

Punctured bicycle
On a hillside desolate
Will nature make a man of me yet ?

When in this charming car
This charming man

Why pamper life’s complexities
When the leather runs smooth
On the passenger seat ?

I would go out tonight
But I haven’t got a stitch to wear
This man said it’s gruesome
That someone so handsome should care

This was really hard to narrow down, but here are some of my favourite lyrics (from records that I own):

Funeral Diner - Wearing Thin
(This is about all those sad Hardcore bands) With your "burnt to the ground"
and haloes breaking. It's been said once a hundred times before, so say it
again. More posturing and masks. [...] I'm not fooled and if you think about
it for more than a minute, it's not okay. And I'm not fooled by your corpses
on the covers so artfully done in monoprint for everyone to see. Can you
justify this? It's not okay. Your hatred used as an option to be made & sold.

Portraits of Past - Something Less Than Intended
Remember those ideals? Remember mom and dad? We're them. Remember
carefree friendship? Oh! those great times. Living like the stars, just
playing with our hearts. How cute. [...] But I know -- I know -- I'm not
"them." Flashy packaging leads me to believe in the novelty of my own
being. [...] Look at this hand -- would I hurt someone? The tongues will
brand, regardless.

From Ashes Rise - Concrete and Steel
Gaze upon the landscape for miles in a distance of concrete and steel.
Look upon the landscape of broken glass and nails. Nauseating carnage --
obscenity calculated to the highest degree. It's time to dethrone the
masters of the scheme; the ones in the labcoats, the shadowed tech-
nicians, the gilded proprietors of the last seas of green. Drain the excess
from the bloated machines -- drain the excess and throw the remnants in
the whipcracker's eyes. Drain the excess and burn like fire in the sky.

Rites of Spring - Spring
Caught in time, so far away from where our hearts really wanted to be.
Reaching out to find a way to get back to where we've been. And if
summer left you dry, with nothing left to try -- this time... Caught at a
distance from myself, and there was no one there to know. What could
I do? I have learned sometimes a need can run too deep and we throw
away the things we most wanted to keep. And inside, we lie, over and
over again -- this time... If you don't now you'd better learn to believe
me when I say I'm going to build a wall around this town; around these
hearts, these hearts and hands.

Jawbreaker - Ashtray Monument
[...] No one ever said this life was easy. Did that no one ever live a life
this hard? [...]

Jawbreaker - Condition Oakland
I rode down to the tracks, thinking that they might sing to me. But they
just stared back -- broken, trainless and black as night. Climbed out
onto my roof so I'd be a poet in the night. [...] Read and I felt so small.
Some words keep speaking when you close the book. Drank and just
about smiled. [...] Put my ear to the door -- I just heard hot rods and
gunshots and sirens. People kill me these days -- there's keys in their
eyes but they lock from the inside.

Anton Bordman - Bone Dance
I wonder how much longer I'll go on shrugging my shoulders when asked
the all-too-familiar "How are you doing?" I do want to answer. My mouth
does open, but the words seem to get caught between the tiny bubble
of saliva that is created, expanded, and exploded (all in the time between
one heartbeat and the next) at the tip of my lips. With the mist of spittle
still disintegrating, my eyes cease from meeting other eyes and move
towards feet and the streets they walk upon. Nothing seems to fit quite
right: not my shirts, not my shoes, not my skin. Like i'll suddenly stumble
upon a hidden zipper running down the length of my spine. It will finally
make sense why my body feels like an older brother's hand-me-down
clothes. And I'll slowly unzip, hips and knees bent, letting my arms hang.
Wriggling my fingers just a bit to start the slide of skin. Then I'll stand in
my bones, leaving the lump of skin and sinew on the floor, relishing the
fact that bones can't laugh and bones can't cry.

(not my favorite lyrics, but appropriate for this forum...)

from "Bicycle Race"
Queen, 'Jazz' - 1978::

.....
Bicycle races are coming your way So forget all your duties oh yeah!
Fat bottomed girls they'll be riding today So look out for those beauties oh yeah
On your marks - get set - go!
....
I don't wanna be a candidate For Vietnam or Watergate
Cos all I want to do is

Bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle bicycle bicycle I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike I want to ride my bicycle I want to ride it where I like

.............................

from "My White Bicycle"
Tomorrow, self-titled debut - 1968::

My white bicycle, my white bicycle

Riding all around the street Four o'clock and they're all asleep
I'm not tired and it's so late Moving fast everything looks great.
....
Policeman shouts but I don't see him They're one thing I don't believe in
Find some judge, but it's not leavin' Lift both hands, his head in disgrace
Shines no light upon my face Through the darkness, we still speed
My white bicycle and me

Amy Correia - The Bike

I became the heiress to a red and rusted bicycle
Built like a tank from Sears Roebuck circa 1952
It had been entrusted to me by my late great uncle Pat
And I guess he didn't ride it much
Both tires on the bike were flat
Pat had died at Christmas time in 1991
He had fallen off the wagon
And he sunk into a Christmas funk
My father he had found him
Two days after he had died
Well he drank himself to death one night
In a little home he owned by the seaside
So I took the bike and I cleaned it up
My father he patched up the tires
Am I going to town or just spinning my wheels
And when I die I wonder how it feels
Hey and I'm riding around riding around on it
Hey just riding around riding around on it
Hey you know I'm riding around
riding around on it. Hey!
The funeral service was a few days later
At a place down the street from where he had lived
There wasn't a hell of a turn out
He had never married and he never had kids
The coffin lid was open
Pat was lying inside
His sister had a picture of a poodle named Pepper
She put it in his hand and then she cried
Now I'm riding around in the city
Through the smog and the summer heat
And I'm blowing through all the red lights
I guess you could say I'm feeling lucky
And the taxis and the trucks
Everybody's blowin' their horns
And I got a bicycle bell to ring
And I got a notion to sing as I'm riding along

Well I didn't even really know him at all
And I wonder can he see me
As I'm riding along
Riding along
The day that Pat was buried
The air was cold and clear
And we drove out to the cemetery
And snow flew around in the air
And a hired man from the State
He played taps on a coronet
And a flag was presented to his sister
For time in the service that Pat had spent
When he used to ride on the bike
Way back in 52
He was starting out a life
And the bike it was brand new
And life was laid before him like
a platter before a king
He was young and he was handsome
and the world was alive with meaning
The world was alive with meaning

Black Sabbath - "Thrill of it all"

Won't ya help me Mr. Jesus?
Won't ya tell me if you can?
When ya see this world we live in
Do ya still believe in man?
If my psalms become my freedom
And my freedom turns to gold
Then I'll ask the final question
Is the answer bought and sold?

The Who "5:15"

Why should I care, why should I care?

Girls of fifteen
Sexually knowing
The ushers are sniffing
Eau-de-cologning
The seats are seductive
Celibate sitting
Pretty girls digging
Prettier women.

Magically bored
On a quiet street corner
Free frustration
In our minds and our toes
Quiet stormwater
M-m-my generation

Uppers and downers
Either way blood flows.

Inside outside. Leave me alone.
Inside outside. Nowhere is home.
Inside outside, Where have I been?
Out of my brain on the five fifteen.

On a raft in the quarry
Slowly sinking.
On the back of a lorry
Holy hitching.
Dreadfully sorry
Apple scrumping.
Born in the war
Birthday punching.

He man drag
In the glittering ballroom
Gravely outrageous
In my high heel shoes
Tightly undone
They know what they're showing
Sadly ecstatic
That their heroes are news.

Why should I care?

SWANS- Amnesia
The Sun is an acid eye,
We're corroded with pleasure inside,
There's a hole in your thin white skin,
Now we'll never be clean again.
Our hands are two broken claws,
We scrape at the ground for hours,
I buried this sound in the floor,
To gain control of this feeling.
(amnesia)
And this city's a crowded room,
And the Earth is a closing tomb,
In my hand is your perfect womb,
When you breathe your breath is obscene,
My heart is a lead box,
Ideas are shutting locks,
The air was just turned off,
Now you're sucking from this machine.
(amnesia)
The Sun will not rise today,
You children will stay were you lay,
The oil is black and it's thick,
And sex is a void filled with plastic,
The president's mouth is a *****,
When there's murder the audience roars,
There's no room left here for the strong,
And everything human's necessarily wrong.

Nine Inch Nails - Hurt

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that’s real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear my crown of s**t
On my liar’s chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stain of time
The feeling disappears
You are someone else
I am still right here
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Mouthful of Cavities ~ Blind Melon

Mouthful of cavities [Headful of...]
Your soul's a bowl of jokes [My soul's...]
And everyday you remind me [...I remind me]
How I'm desperately in need

See, I got a lot of fiends around
And they're peaking through nothing new
They see you
They see everything you do [And everything...]

See everything on the inside, out [...inside, yeah]

Oh, please give me a little more
And I'll push away those baby blues
Cause one of these days this will die
So will me and so will you

I write a letter to a friend of mine [I got a letter from a friend...]
I tell him how much I used to love watch him smile

See I haven't seen him smile in a little while [And I haven't...]

Haven't seen him smile in a little while [...seen you smile...]

But, I know you're laughing from the inside out [ommitted...
Laughin' from the inside out
I know you're laughing from the inside out
Laughing from the inside
From the inside
From the inside
From the inside
From the inside out

Happy Mondays - Step On

He's gonna step on you again, he's gonna step on you
He's gonna step on you again, he's gonna step on you
You're twistin' my melon man, you know you talk so hip man
You're twistin' my melon man

Hey rainmaker, come away from that man
You know he's gonna take away your promised land
Hey good lady he just wants what you got you know
He'll never stop until he's taken the lot
(Hey Hey he hey hey)

Gonna stamp out your fire, he can change your desire
Don't you know he can make you forget you're a man
Gonna stamp out your fire, he can change your desire
Don't you know he can make you forget you're the man
You're a man

You're twistin' my melon man, you speak so hip

Hey rainmaker he got golden plans I tell you
You'll make a stranger in your own land
Hey good lady he's got God on his side he got a double
Tongue you never think he would lie

(Oh he lied, oooh he's twistin' my melon man
(Oh he lied, oooh he's twistin' my melon man)

Gonna stamp out your fire, he can change your desire
Don't you know he can make you forget you're a man
Gonna stamp out your fire, he can change your desire
Don't you know he can make you forget you're the man
You're the man

He's gonna step on you again, he's gonna step on you
He's gonna step on you again, he's gonna step on you

Hey rainmaker, come away from that man
You know he's gonna take away your promised land
Hey good lady he's got God on his side he got a double
Tongue you never think he would lie

Gonna stamp out your fire, he can change your desire
Don't you know he can make you forget you're a man
Gonna stamp out your fire, he can change your desire
Don't you know he can make you forget you're the man
You're the man

You're twistin' my melon man, you know you talk so hip man
You're twistin' my melon man
(Hey Hey he hey hey)

He's gonna step on you again, he's gonna step on you again
He's gonna step on you again, he's gonna step on you again

Pere Ubu. Final solution:

The girls won't touch me-Cos I've got a misdirection
Living at night isn't helping my complexion

The signs all saying it's a social infection
A little bit of fun's never been an insurrection

Mamma threw me out till I get some pants that fit
She just won't approve of my strange kind of wit

I get so excited, always gotta lose
Man that send me off
Let them take the cure
Don't need a cure
Need a final solution

Buy me a ticket to a sonic reduction (white noise)
Guitars gonna sound like a nuclear destruction (silence)
Seems I'm a victim of natural selection
Meet me on the other side, another direction

Stranglers. Ain't Nothin' To It:

Back up boy forty five feet
Always looking for a freebie
Why don't you let up sometime
Hawks out here with his axe n' me with this lead sheet on
Trying to scuffle up those two's n' fews
For uncle so's I can bail out my full orchestration
Looks like he got me but this cat wouldn't feed
Grass to a horse in a concrete pasture
He's so tight he wouldn't buy a pair of shorts for a flea
Just look at him n' dig that vine
All off tome his strollers look like he's ready to
Jump he's playing ketchup n' I got to tighten his wig
Hold it down n' I'll come up with line two like I said
Ain't nothin' to it, just here
Ain't nothin' to it, just here
Ain't nothin' ain't nothin' to it just here
I saw that dinner up the street guzzlin' foam in
The drinkden and the sharks are droppin' the shucks
Like the yellow kid trying to tighten her and
Weaving the four f's all around her
I nixed her out long ago, man, she's too sometimey
She will and she won't
She do and she don't always on the fence and
Sleeps with her glasses on
Man
Man
Ain't nothin' ain't nothin' to it just here
She's faust to me, so skip it and forget it
She's faust to me, so skip it and forget it

"Octopus" by Syd Barrett

Trip to heave and ho, up down, to and fro
you have no word
trip, trip to a dream dragon
hide your wings in a ghost tower
sails crackiling at every plate we break
cracked by scattered needles
little minute gong
coughs and clears his throat
madam you see before you stand
hey ho, never be still
the old original favourite gran
grasshoppers green herbarian band
and the tune they play is in us confide...

So trip to heave and ho, up down, to and fro'
you have no word

Please leave us here
close our eyes to the octopus ride!

Isn't it good to be lost in the wood
isn't it bad so quiet there, in the wood
twenty even less to me than I thought
with a honey plough of yellow prickly seeds
clover honey pots and mystic shining feed...

Well, the madcap laughed at the man on the border
hey ho, huff the talbot
Cheetah he cried shouted kangaroo
so through their tree they cried

Please leave us here
close our eyes to the octopus ride!

The madcap laughed at the man on the border
hey ho, huff the talbot
the winds they blew and the leaves did wag
and they'll never put me in their bag
the seas will reach and always see
so high you go, so low you creep
the winds it blows in tropical heat
the drones they throng on mossy seats
the squeaking door will always creep
two up, two down we'll never meet
so merrily trip for good my side

Please leave us here
close our eyes to the octopus ride

Cibo Matto ~ Sci-fi Wasabi :
My wheel needs repair. the bike lane’s glowing all over the city
My bike ’specializes’ in the nitty-gritty

NoMeansNo ~ Now
Now if I had the courage
I'd pour in your jar
All the things that I have heard you whisper in the dark
And when that jar was heavy
Whith your honey confidence
I'd put it to my lips and drink it's meaning and it's sense

It has no end so let's pretend it's
Now
Let's get started
Now
Let's get started
NOW

Nothing could be plainer
Than the things that have been done
And there can be no mystery in what is yet to come
It's now that howls at nothing
It's now that runs and hides
It's now that winds ist spineless coils and slitters out of sight
Your cries above the furrow
Draw my fingers like a plow
Through tattered ends that twist and bend about the Here and Now
The Here is blind and helpless
And strives against the dark
The Now's a well of shadows where the world has come apart

It has no end so let's pretend it's
Now
Let's get started
Now
Let's get started
NOW

There is precious little
That escapes the powers that be
The eyes that judge, the words that form our meager histories
But when your flood surrounds me
When the waters burst and come
Who knows the things that I have felt, who knows what I have done
And if I had the courage
I'd pur into your jar
Allt the things I have heard you whisper in the dark
And when the jar wwas heavy
With your honeyed confidence
I'd put it to my lips and drink it's meaning and it's sense

It has no end so let's pretend it's

Now
Let's get started

You ran out of lies!
You ran out of lies! Lies!
Stronger than reason, stronger than life
The only truth I know is the look in your eyes
The look in your eyes!
Just like a car crash, just like a knife
My favorite weapon is the look in your eyes
You ran out of lies!

You ran out of life!
You ran out of lies!
Get out of my life!

And I'm chewing on glass and tasting my fingers
I'm not the one who's run out of lies, lies!
You ran out of life!
You ran out of time!

Judging my faith and walking on splinters
I lost my soul to the look in your eyes
Your eyes! You ran out of lies!
Ran out of time...
Stigmata! You ran out of lies!

Oh, you have empty eyes! (yes)
Oh, you have empty lies! (yes)
They told me nothing
Nothing but lies!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

One day last week I had one of those mornings where nothing major is wrong but lots of little things are, and riding to work I kept thinking of this snippet of a little-known Jethro Tull tune Rocks on the Road:

Crumbs on the breakfast table,
and a million other little things to spoil my day.
Many of my favorite lyrics are from They Might Be Giants (http://www.tmbg.com/). There are at least a dozen songs I love the lyrics to, but I'll content myself with quoting two.

Since it's snowing here as I write this:

When in rains, it snows (http://www.lyricsdepot.com/they-might-be-giants/when-it-rains-it-snows.html), I wonder why.
and, because this song meant a lot to me when I went through a period of depression some years ago:

I returned a bag of groceries
Accidently taken off the shelf
Before the expiration date.
I came back as a bag of groceries
Accidently taken off the shelf
Before the date stamped on myself.

Did a large procession wave their
Torches as my head fell in the basket,
And was everybody dancing on the casket?

Now it's over I'm dead (http://www.lyricsdepot.com/they-might-be-giants/dead.html) and I haven't done anything that I want
Or, I'm still alive and there's nothing I want to do.

Here's some of my favourite lines

Well, God can turn the world around
And he can push it in the dirt
And he can tear it all apart
And he don't care who all gets hurt

C'mon down - you old fart
Let's see if you have got a heart
It ain't true - it's all lies
Are you the devil in disguise?
Won't give up - won't bow down
I'm gonna tear your playhouse down

and

Green grass grows around the backyard ****house
And that is where the sweetest flowers bloom
We are flowers growin' in God's garden
And that is why he spreads the **** around

More tomorrow..Among my favorites..

Oh, Lord won't you give me a Mercedes Benz.
My friends all drive Porshe's.
I must make amends.

I agree with Lotek..
When frazzled and can't ride.
A little 'Comfortable Numbness' helps one to cope..
Not quite sure how to get to nirvanna. Cycling is one route.

Hill top Hoods - Illusionary Lines

But that’s my life cycle; freedom means everything to me,
And face value’s got us believing everything we see,
So if our eyes tell us lies the truth is we’re blind,
So keep on walking straight and narrow down illusionary lines.

Hill Top Hoods - Tomorrow will Do

Verse One – Pressure

Be careful what you wish for; be cautious what you seek,
Women are like opportunities; grasp them when they’re in reach,
All that glitters is gold, and sold for green locally,
Life’s a blind struggle that’s why fate keeps tripping over me,
With fines, debts and warrants trust me when I say they serve you,
What you don’t know can’t hurt you; so not knowing you’s a virtue,
It’s a fast food world; I fear that I’m a die gluttoning,
But life is like John Howard, too short to waste time worrying,
I moved from my parentals, used to lose it in the mental,
Now I’m using my potential, for bruising instrumentals,
I’m a bad natured human, bound to stagnate in ruin,
Till these man made delusions catch a bad case of bruising,
We’re all drunk philosophers so give it time now,
There’s a fine line between a smile and a frown, Yeah? It’s called an eyebrow,
If measurement of ones worth was one word of testament,
I’m done keeping it real I keep it relevant.

Chorus
Life is a road, full of turn-offs, short sprints and long runs,
We’ll deal with it as it comes,
If I lose my way I’ll follow you,
Cos today’s like yesterday I guess tomorrow will do,
Life is a road, full of turn-offs, short sprints and long runs,
We’ll deal with it as it comes,
If I lose my way I’ll follow you,
Cos today’s like yesterday I guess tomorrow will do.

Verse Two – Suffa
I’ve been an out and out loudmouth since my youth,
I’m generous with words but selfish with the truth,
I’d never say some things on my mind anyway,
Cos ideas are like cars, they get stolen everyday,
And when I do speak women call me a creep,
Ladies chivalry’s not dead it’s on the couch where you made it sleep,
I get deep without the meaningful,
Mimed a rhyme to a blind man, he said ‘Boy now I’ve seen it all’,
The worlds an ugly place filled with beautiful women,
And people, who love music but lack suitable rhythm,
What a computer will give them an instrument won’t,
It’s called hip hop, guess what we’re the industry joke,
But hip hop followers, follow us till your sorrow is gone,
And be strong cos tomorrow it’s on,
We ain’t no beat nick, weak trip, kids on the sneak tip,
We spit deep **** all of life’ secrets.

I think, the most profund lyrics...
' and in the end, the love you get
Is equal to the love, you give.'

Been meaning to add this one for a while now

Sneaker Pimps - 6 Underground

Don't think 'cause I understand, I care
Don't think 'cause I'm talkin', we're friends

Nice mini-commentary on presumption and maybe the lack of directness in our communications with each other.

Anything by the Eagles is great....

On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
The warm smell of colitas
Rising up through the air
Up ahead in a distance
I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night

There she stood in the doorway
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be heaven or this could be hell
Then she lit up a candle
And she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor
I thought I heard them say

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place, such a lovely face
There's plenty of room in the Hotel California
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is tiffany twisted
She's got a Mercedes Benz
She's got a lotta pretty, pretty boys
She calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard
Sweet summer sweat
Some dance to remember
Some dance to forget

So I called up the captain
Please bring me my wine
He said "We haven't had that spirit here since 1969"
And still those voices are calling from far away
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place, such a lovely face
They're livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceilling, the pink champagne on ice
And she said "We are all just prisoners here of our own device"
In the masters chambers they're gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was runnin' for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
"Relax" said the night man "We are programmed to recieve
You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave"

I try to play my music

And when I rolled with the punches
I got knocked on the ground

imagine there is no hevan
its easy if you try
no hell below us
above us only sky

imagine all the people living for today

imagine theres no countries
it isnt hard to do
nothing to kill or die for
and no religeon too

imagine all the people living life in peace

you may say im a dreamer
but im not the only one
i hope some day youll join us
and the world will be as one

imagine no possesions
i wonder if you can
no need for greed or hunger
a brotherhood of man

imagine all the people sharing all the world

i hope some day youll join us
and the world will be as one

Today:

it went like this:

the buildings tumbled in on themselves
mothers clutching babies picked through the rubble
and pulled out their hair

the skyline was beautiful on fire
all twisted metal stretching upwards
everything washed in a thin orange haze

i said: "kiss me, you're beautiful -
these are truly the last days"

Tommorow:

There's a silence surrounding me
I can't seem to think straight
I'll sit in the corner
No one can bother me
I think I should speak now (Why won't you talk to me)
I can't seem to speak now (You never talk to me)
My words won't come out right (What are you thinking)
I feel like I'm drowning (What are you feeling)
I'm feeling weak now (Why won't you talk to me)
But I can't show my weakness (You never talk to me)
I sometimes wonder (What are you thinking)
Where do we go from here (What are you feeling)

Anything by the Eagles is great....

--- Eagles, Hotel California '76

This song has got to be one of the best I've ever heard as far as visualizing a story goes. I can actually see everything happening in the song as it's sung. Pretty cool when you get something like that from music. Actually, Don McLean's American Pie does that for me, too.;)

nothing really profound, but there are always those songs that hit home and you can relate so well to. this one works well for me lately:

the used - the taste of ink

Is it worth it can you even hear me
Standing with your spotlight on me
Not enough to feed the hungry
I'm tired and I felt it for awhile now
In this sea of lonely
The taste of ink is getting old
It's four o' clock in the ****ing morning
Each day gets more and more like the last day
Still I can see it coming
While I'm standing in the river drowning
This could be my chance to break out
This could be my chance to say goodbye
At last it's finally over
Couldn't take this town much longer
Being half dead wasn't what I planned to be
Now I'm ready to be free

So here I am it's in my hands
And I'll savor every moment of this
So here I am alive at last
And I'll savor every moment of this
--And won't you think I'm pretty
When I'm standing top the bright lit city
And I'll take your hand and pick you up
And keep you there to so you can see
As long as you're alive and care
I promise I will take you there
And we'll drink and dance the night away
--As long as you're alive
Here I am
I promise I will take you there

Rammstein - Du Hast

Du
du hast
du hast mich
du hast mich gefragt
du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab nichts gesagt

Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet
treu ihr sein für alle Tage

Nein

Willst du bis zum Tod, der scheide
sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen

Nein

Good energy and open to a bit of interpretation, except for the answer to the question: Nein!

The opening lines to "American Nightmare" from the Misfits:

"Hot cherry on a Friday night
As the sun goes down my spine
I put an axe in my baby's head
Now I'll end up doing time

She looked so good in red..."

And best of all, it's sung in a Elvis sounding voice.

David Bowie - The Laughing Gnome

was walking down the High Street
When I heard footsteps behind me
And there was a little old man (Hello)
In scarlet and grey, shuffling away (laughter)
Well he trotted back to my house
And he sat beside the telly (Oaah..)
With his tiny hands on his tummy
Chuckling away, laughing all day (laughter)

Oh, I ought to report you to the Gnome office
(Gnome Office)
Yes
(Hahahahaha)

CHORUS
Ha ha ha, hee hee hee
"I'm a laughing Gnome and you can't catch me"
Ha ha ha, hee hee hee
"I'm a laughing Gnome and you can't catch me"
Said the laughing Gnome

Well I gave him roasted toadstools and a glass of dandelion wine (Burp, pardon)
Then I put him on a train to Eastbourne
Carried his bag and gave him a ***
(Haven't you got a light boy?)
"Here, where do you come from?"
(Gnome-man's land, hahihihi)
"Oh, really?"

In the morning when I woke up
He was sitting on the edge of my bed
With his brother whose name was Fred
He'd bought him along to sing me a song

Right, let's hear it
Here, what's that clicking noise?
(That's Fred, he's a "metrognome", haha)

Ha ha ha, hee hee hee
"I'm a laughing Gnome and you don't catch me"
Ha ha ha, hee hee hee
"I'm a laughing Gnome and you can't catch me"

(Own up, I'm a gnome, ain't I right, haha)
"Haven't you got an 'ome to go to?"
(No, we're gnomads)
"Didn't they teach you to get your hair cut at school?
you look like a rolling gnome."
(No, not at the London School of Ecognomics)

Now they're staying up the chimney
And we're living on caviar and honey (hooray!)
Cause they're earning me lots of money
Writing comedy prose for radio shows
It's the-er (what?)
It's the Gnome service of course

Ha ha ha, hee hee hee
"I'm a laughing Gnome and you don't catch me"
Ha ha ha, oh, dear me

(Ha ha ha, hee hee hee
"I'm a laughing Gnome and you can't catch me"
Ha ha ha, hee hee hee
"I'm a laughing Gnome and you can't catch me")

(One more time, yeah)
