Doing a Gran Fondo in 12 days, and on the longer training rides I was experiencing some knee and low back pain so I made an appointment with my shop to get the fit checked. I had done this previously last season before the same event. Well to my surprise my seat needed to be raised a little over a cm and the handlebars to match! Seems because I had lost around 20lbs since the last time I had been in and lot of it was padding in the posterier that the fit had gotten out of whack. Just hope I can adjust to the new riding position for the 110 mile ride. He also told me to send the wife in to get her fit check. She lost 50lbs!

+1 X 2.

I'm a cheap sob, and when the other members of my bike club kept urging me to spend $150+ on a pro fit (Retul), I balked.

Long story short, it's the best $ I've spent on my bike. The first session took 2.5 hrs and started with a 20 min interview. Only minor changes were made (the fitter said "gee, your bike is really close! Most are so far out of wack.")

I immediately notices more power, less fatigue and less pain and numbness on long rides. I since had a "check up" when I got a new seat 1.5 yrs later.

Great job OP and wife!

My original fit was included in the cost of the bike, and my shop does the re-fits for free. That said the seat and handle bar moves took about 35 minutes with measuring the leg angle. I've done 2 short rides so far - around 20 miles each. The first one I felt some discomfort as my body adjusted. The one today felt better. Going out for a 40-50 mile ride Sunday, and maybe another 50 miler midweek before the century next weekend. Also bought some new bib shorts today. I have bib knickers which I found really comfortable in the colder months, so decided I would get my first pair of bib shorts.
