Southwest - Renting Road Bikes in Las Vegas

Can anyone recommend a bike shop where we can rent road bikes for a day in Las Vegas? Thanks

A rider from Michigan came out recently and rented from JTs. He seemed pretty satisfied. Both are quality shops. Red Rocks and River Mt are both popular. You can get to the Hoover Dam on the River MT Loop.

Thank you for your quick reply. Unfortunately we are staying at the MGM on the strip (my husband is attending a conference). We are going to escape for a bike ride one day. What would you recommend?

What level of riders are you? How much time do you want to spend on the ride? We have a variety of areas to ride in.

This would be about 10 minutes further away from the journey to Red Rocks. You can also access Valley of Fire from the Lake Mead area. You will have a good chance to see coyotes and bighorn sheep as well as Lake Mead and if you like, Hoover Dam and the Pat Tillman Bridge.

I know that they have transport vans and might pick people up on the Strip. I'm not sure, just thinking out loud.

I have been told that the River Mountain Loop involves about 6 miles of pretty steep climbing. I'm good with some climbing and good with rollers but I don't think I want a 6 mile steep ride. Is the riding around Lake Mead nice? Thanks again for your help.

I have made contact with JT's Bicycle and will rent a bike from them. I hope Henderson isn't too far from the strip but it sounds like there is nice riding out there. Thanks for the recommendation Daspydyr.

Enjoy, JTs seems to be pretty quality. If you enter the River Mountain Loop at the Equestrian Trailhead you can avoid the Twin Sisters section. Many a rider has been humbled there. From the Equestrian head South and West, stay to the right. If you take a left turn over a large bridge and power plant you are headed for the Sisters. If you ride to Hoover Dam or the Pat Tillman bridge you will find a tough uphill back to Boulder City. There is a green Convenience Market on the left/east side of the MUP. They have the best Mountain Dew in the area.

By heading this way you can see all of Lake Mead from the Westside. Its getting warm out here. Bring lots of water. There are services available all through Boulder City. Once you get to Lake Mead you will have some stretches without public water.

Does the River Mountain Loop have another name? I am trying to find it on a site where I can download the map but it doesn't show up. Thanks.

Just want everyone to know we rented bikes from JT's as recommended by Daspydyr and were very pleased. Everyone at the shop is helpful and friendly. The bikes were good quality. It was hot as hell when we embarked on the loop and I am sorry to report we were not impressed with the scenery. It looked like a moonscape. But we RECOMMEND JT'S!!!!!

I've heard the moon has more trees. We have been setting heat records this spring, sorry. We have a saying out here. God paints by the numbers. UT #6 and #8, greens and blues. NV=#2 and #4 yellow and brown. Its what we have.

Glad JTs worked well for you. Those poor guys have to ride in this all year round.
