Southern California - Is Anyone Doing the LA River Ride???

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am either doing that or ride around the bear.

I was pondering it, but then I can just hop on my bike and ride the path with no special parking requirements. Still debating internally.

That looks like a good ride. Alot of climbing?

Doesn't look like much climb at all? Too bad it is on Sunday.

The river ride doesn't have much climbing. I'm curious about the Big Bear ride.

I'm doing it with at least two others. Though think we are only doing the 70miles to Long Beach and back.

No real climbing at all. The most you'll do is coming back up to street level after going down a street underpass.

I've done it twice. But I really prefer to do my cycling without time limits on the journey unless they're self-imposed. Then there's the commute, since the Park isn't close to any Metro stations.
Be careful, mass start ( always a recipe for a mess)....the LA river Bike path gets narrow in spots...and on the way back there are the slower people and kids from the fun ride in addition to the racer types..very dangerous....
I will pass....I would rather just donate money to LA Bike Coalition

The start point in Griffith Park is only 5miles away from the nearest metro stop.

I've done it in the past... No climbing at all, flat & fast!!! Not planning on it this year.
^^
2013 is around the corner and I have opportunity for free registration. Go or pass?
I'll be there. It seems like a fairly easy century. For me, it's more of a celebration of getting my strength back after 3 months off the bike during winter.
