Cleveland-based nonprofit Fast Track Cycling has signed a purchase contract and ground lease to bring a 166-meter steel and wood velodrome to Slavic Village. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Tue 5/1 @ 2PM and the track is slated to open on Sat 6/16.

Sigh.

Wait, it's gonna be built in just 6 weeks or something? That's crazy. I guess 166m is better than nothing.

Also, 166m does not an Olympic style velodrome make.

The website says that it will be identical to the track in Chicago. Here is the track in Chicago:

I feel like the transitions must be brutal if you're out of the sprinters lane.

Looks like Dale is doing another short track. His short tracks (like Chicago) are portable and take a few weeks for final assembly the first time. After that it takes about a day or two to assemble.
