Hello everyone, my name is Teri Ann and I live in Laveen, AZ. I purchased a simple mountain bike in April of 2011 for the sole purpose of trying to save $$$ on gas. I have not ridden a bike since I was 18-years-old. I have found myself actually riding it for fitness as well. I am an avid hiker, rock climber and beginner mountaineer and thought I would throw in mountain biking in the mix. I ride mostly on the street, but tried my first trail ride a couple of weeks ago, but should not have picked the trail that I did because my back wheel kept spinning off the trail and over the side of the mountain, which wasn't fun. But, I am determined to try another trail.

I have a small women's fitness business: Hiking AZ with Teri Ann and do guided hikes for families and women groups as well, so as you can see I am all about fitness. I also teach Pet CPR, First Aid and Pet Care classes. I am a Certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) as well as a certified Emergency Animal Medical Tech I (EAMT I) and Large Animal Rescue Tech II (LAR II), so being in the human and animal medical world is very interesting and challenging all at the same time.

I look forward to being part of this forum and getting some awesome tips from other bikers.

You have a great resume. I think those sports crossover well. I've been a climber and mountaineer for much of my life and touring was an easy transition (I already had all that gear). I also teach WFRs for WMI. Welcome to the forums!

You're a WFR Instructor...cool. I actually have thought about becoming a NOLS/WMI Instructor. I can't tell you how many times I have had to use my WFR skills in South Mountain, and other trails that I hike on with distressed hikers and bikers. I have witnessed some nasty biking accidents/falls, which makes me nervous when I go riding, but I wouldn't do some of the crazy stunts that I have seen other bikers do.
