I broke my old rear shock and am getting a replacement, not too many options for my frame (02 Norco VPS Drop) nut the monarch is one, would it hold up for DH? I actually do more all mountain stuff but downhill when i can. any other suggestions would be great too, thanks
Measurements
eye-to-eye: 7.5"
stroke: 2.25" (old shock, was told 2" was fine)
top eyelet: .9"
bottom eyelet: 1.7"

In that size, for that bike, something like the Monarch Plus would be a better match. Tons of shocks in the 7.5 x 2 size out there though - near anything should fit. Obviously you'll give up a little travel vs. the 2.25 stroke shock, but at least they ought to fit the frame.

7.5 x 2.25 is sort of an oddball. Sure it's not a 7.875? Or do you think you'd have room to run one of those without rubbing at bottom out? It would alter your geometry a touch though. Slightly higher BB height, slightly steeper HTA.

Or take the money for a new shock and get yourself a new frame, swap al your parts?

Gotcha. The XX is a lightweight XC shock - if you're going to do the 7.5 x 2 route, one of the standard Monarch, the Plus would IMO far better suit the bike.

Or, check ebay - loads of all kinds of shocks in that size up there for cheap, new and used.
