Touring - Looking for cross Canada touring partner.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey, I'm a 23 year old male with a passion for cycling and I really want to ride across Canada this summer (2012). I have all my own gear (or will have) and I have no plans or routes set in stone yet so I am flexible. I plan to leave at the end of May and I need to be back on Vancouver Island mid August to get ready for another year of university. The general game plan is to start on Vancouver Island and head east as far as I can with my limited time then fly back to the island for school.

A little about me... I have experience camping/hiking but no experience cycle touring. I'm generally more of a mountain biker/dirt jumper guy but I really want to get into touring to see the country. I am hard working, adventurous, and really laid back and easy going. I am in decent physical shape (no injuries) but I'm not looking for someone to rush across the country, its not a race. With that being said I'm also hoping to go at a decent pace.

I was hoping to find someone to tour with for the summer, if you are interested please contact me (gabehamilton4@hotmail.com) and we can meet prior to the trip.

Thank you.

Gabe Hamilton

Wish I could come, I would love to see Canada. If you have not yet, also consider posting your ad here http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/classifieds/index.html?o=1&category_id=5&sub_locales=1 There is probably a better chance finding someone there. Best of luck!

You should post a thread in FixedVan (http://www.fixedvancouver.com/Forums/index.php), there could be someone on there that's looking for a partner as well.

Good luck. :)

Also, just a heads up, they're a rough crowd of people. It's call the Bag of [derogatory term of penis] for a reason, so prepared to be hassled.

If you come to PEI you can camp in my 3.5 acre yard.

As long as you don't mind 'nothing fancy' you can camp & shower for free. :)

You might have a browse through this site: http://www.cyclecanada.com/

They run supported tours across Canada, but in their community area, there are tips for cycletourists crossing Canada and a discussion area.
