Great Lakes Rides and Events - Tosrv this weekend!

TOSRV this weekend. How many from here are riding? How far are you traveling to get to the ride? Weather Saturday is near perfect with Sunday having chance of scattered thunder storms.

8 miles-ish? :) ...it was my first TOSRV and did the one way ride. Had a blast, and ended up catching a couple decent pacelines and averaged a 19.5x down. Couldnt have asked for better weather

Very Nice. Saturday was a great day to ride. I LOVE this tour because of all the different, great bikes you can see. Everything from decades old Schwinn's to the latest, most expensive, high tech rides out there.

Chose to not ride Sunday, steady rain all the way back in to Columbus. The one thing I truly dis-like is road riding in the rain. I am crazy enough on my own without taking chances with the Nutzo Cagers trying to take me out.

I did both ways, Sunday was hell. Apparently when you ride in the rain for more than a few hours, a Brooks saddle becomes a hammock.

I traveled 7 miles to the starting point. :) I did the 7:30 am parade start and couldn't figure out why they lined us up in reverse speed order (slowest in front?). Didn't seem to matter much once we got started. Saturday was a beautiful ride into Portsmouth, but when I woke up in a puddle at the campground on Sunday morning I strongly considered calling for a ride. But I pressed on and by the time I got to Chillicothe I figured I suffered through the rain for over 50 miles already, I might as well finish and get the gold seal! Thanks to all the volunteers! This was my second TOSRV and I'm already looking forward to next year!

My wife and I and a few of our friends rode the full 105mi Saturday. It was our first tour, and we traveled up from Cincinnati. Had a blast.

Got a ride back on Sunday. We were planning on doing so anyways, but were able to help a few extra people back since the weather was so lousy.

What a great event. Volunteers were available every 2 miles it looked like in case of trouble. Food / rest stops were fantastically stocked. Music was great. The route was fun and offered a reasonable amount of climbing to make the day fun but not over-cooked.

Agree completely on the wide range of bikes. I'd estimate that the vast majority were top shelf racing bikes, which I personally get bored of. However, we did see a Rivendell Atlantis with cream fat franks (OMG), a fair share of gumwall tires and tassles, and a few kids riding with parents. Noice.

Can't wait for next year.

What do you do with the Brooks Saddle after that happens.
My LBS talked me into my first and second Brooks for the upcoming season.
Was worried about the rain.

I traveled about 120 miles to TOSRV last year, rode the half from Chilli down to Portsmouth due to a lack of training with spring colds and got a car ride back Sunday. I did spend much of the day pouring Gatorade at the lunch stop since I did not ride.

I am quite impressed by all who pushed through the rain on Sunday!

Who all is registered for this year? Training is started here and I will kill anyone who gets me sick before the ride. This will be my 13th.

I did both days with the quest velomobile. The rain didn't bother me too much as I didn't get wet at all. It did slow my pace a bit however. Saturday I ended up with a 24.8mph average while sunday was a 22.7 average. 3 tire tracks plus rain droplets all over the shell hurts the aerodynamics a bit plus all the droplets add up to almost a pound of extra weight. Riders were shouting that they would glady trade bikes as I went by. Here is a clip from last year riding with another velomobile. We were really gettin it in this clip.
