Mountain Biking - Telluride, CO

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I will be in Telluride for two days prior to leaving for a Telluride to Moab, UT mountain bike trip, was wondering if anyone can recommend some local Telluride riding that will show me some of the local flavor? Thanks for the information. Zach

I know in the ski area you could take the gondola up and ride the slopes back down, It is free or at least was last year.
I rode a trail on the east side of Telluride last year - it was alot of fun. I think it was the Deep Creek trail. Also in Telluride - Wasatch trail. Visit the local bike shops for more info about how to get to the trails. Have fun!

I did a Telluride to Moab ride a few years ago. It was GREAT! You are in for a real treat. Are you riding with an outfitter? If so, who?
I can't recommend specific rides, but I can recommend a guidebook that may help:
Mountain Biking Colorado's La Platas: Great Rides Between Durango and Telluride, Derek Ryter, Pruett Publishing Co., Boulder, CO, 1995.
It is out of print, but can still be had for a price.
If you are travelling with an outfitter, you might ask them for suggestions for rides around Telluride. Or call a bike shop in Telluride.
This link MAY help you find a bike shop in Telluride.

In a word: no.
In two more words: Sorry, Charlie.
