I like clipless pedals for reasons such as energy being used & the security over rough stuff; but there ae many times when I need to dab a foot or I get to a point where there is no time to clip out. Im looking for a pedal that straight forward/ up & down I'll be clipped, but the slightest side movement & Im out. I currently have Times. Theyre great for the average ride, but when its hairy, theyre just too secure.
Any suggestions?

You may consider looking at toe clips?

I ride Time's as well, and have never felt TOO Secure. I'd suggest any of Shimano's or Shimano Copies that have an adjustable spring tension.

Before my Time's I had a pair of Wellgo SPD, and I had the tension set full ON, so I wouldn't unclipped accidentily. If you set the spring full OFF, I'm sure your foot would easily pop out when you wanted to DAB.
