I've been browsing Bike Forums for years and I finally now registered.
Road and touring bikes have been by primary transportation for the last 13 years. I'm interested in performance and riding hard, but I'm a flower-sniffer too. I usually prefer to ride alone. I've spent several months loaded touring across the USA on various trips. The last few years I've been focused on long-distance and ultra-distance adventures. I completed Paris-Brest-Paris in 2011 and I am currently looking for another challenge, possibly off-road long-distance riding.
I'm a recent transplant from New York City to Ashland, Virginia. Year-round cycling (I'm car free) in rural central Virginia has been a lonely endeavor so far. I'll need to adjust my mental attitude to live car free out here.
Has anybody had a similar experience moving to a rural area?
