Hi fellows
I am thinking to mount a top rack on my tubus tara like in this picture
http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/page/pic/?o=1&pic_id=682844&size=large&v=1
But this one is very expensive in Germany, any advice to an alternative front rack.I already tried with the racktime topit http://www.bikebagshop.com/racktime-topit-front-rack-p-1614.html and didnt work on my bike because of my magura HS 11 brakes (was not possible to open it with the rack on)
Thanks
regards

Nashbar.com sells a very inexpensive front rack, normally for $16 but now on sale for $9. Not sure if they would ship to Germany, but a similar low-cost rack might be available from European shops. Some of the British on-line shops have wide selections of racks.

By the way, I have the Nitto rack (or similar model) shown in your first link. It is nice rack, but doesn't hold much as it's only about 10 cm wide x 21 cm long. Salsa Cycles includes a slightly larger rack with their Casseroll sport touring bike; perhaps they would sell the rack separately.
Soma Cycles also sells a relatively inexpensive front rack for about $30.

I wonder if the Salsa Minimalist rack would work?

The Salsa Minimalist rack will work. I have one mounted on my Salsa Down Under front rack. The problem is you can't get any until the end of May, maybe. I got the last one Freeze Thaw had in stock. Apperently they only make them once a year and when they are gone they are gone. I love mine. I didn't like the Nashbar rack. Functional enough for day trips but not enough for multi day trips. Still what do you want for $13 dollars shipped. I am sure Nashbar will ship to Germany. Call if the webpage dosn't display something. Even at $9 after shipping the cost may prohibitive.

Humor me. Isn't what you are talking about the Duo (http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/tubus_racks.asp#Duo) not the Tara (http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/tubus_racks.asp#Tara)?

Yes I understand, the Magura Rim hydraulic brakes are excellent,
but for the less informed, to pull/install, an inflated tire,
You have to remove
one of the calipers/slave cylinders.
there is a Quick release mounting bolt,to facilitate this.
So a front top of the wheel rack that mounts on the same
boss, mid fork, as the low rider rack is a good idea..
instead of the Both canti/V brake bosses, type..
In the midst of a tour when I passed thru Newcastle, Northern England
I got a small rack fabricated quickly by the folks at M Steel /Joe Waugh,
bike makers , there..
so you may find a bike fabricator to make one for you, as well ..
OP being in Germany , should be able to find a shop to knock one out
somewhere near where they live..
Have something fabricated for you.. then you can have features added ..
Light bracket, additional tie down points , a bit wider, become choices.

I've never understood the need for hydraulic rim brakes. Std Vees seem to work pretty darn good, and if you need more, I'd move to a Avid BB7 disc brake, which is still mechanical, no cylinders/line/fluid/special lever required.

Not to work WITH Tara, but as a substitute for Tara plus some other platform add-on rack.

333 has not ridden a Bike with a set of Magura's Hydro Stop brakes on them , obviously.
