Hi everyone. I'm 35, from Ontario Canada. I don't own a car and never have. I don't even have a driver's license. I've been taking public transportation since I was 14, and have never had much of an issue getting anywhere.
I sometimes get hassled by my family because they're all under the delusion that you're not an adult unless you have a car. They keep hassling me to get a driver's license, but I don't see the point if I don't have a car to drive. (I can't afford one, and even if I could, I don't think I would waste the money on such a money pit. There's also the issue of oil being a finite resource. We don't know when it will run out, but when it does, I don't want to be caught with my pants down, so to speak).
A long time ago, I knew a guy in his 70s who used to ride his bike from Missisauga Ontario to Hamilton Ontario (about 50 km/31 miles each way) and back at least once a week. If he can do that, it's possible for anyone to ride their bike for transportation.

The only way I would ever own a car is when/if they improve electric cars to the point where they can drive for a few hundred kilometers before needing to be charged again. And of course I would charge it with a solar panel. :D
