Folding Bikes - Another I just bought a Brompton thread

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have been wanting to buy a Brompton for a couple of years now, but I wanted it just for a travel bike. My idea was to buy the ultimate Brompton, the superlight version and take it on my trips. But that plan never materialized because Brompton's shortage of the superlight. Plan number two was hatched. Buy two Bromptons, one for myself and one for my girlfriend and we both can have bikes when we travel. I knew she would never spend that kind of money on a bike, so with a bit more money than I was going to spend on my ultimate, I can buy two normal Bromptons.

Took her to test drive the bike at Curbside here in Toronto and she liked it, which was good enough for me. Today 2 B Spoke orders were done.

Her bike is M3L in pink, with EZ wheels, Brooks saddle, reduced gearing and front folding basket.

Mine is a S3L in orange, with EZ wheels, Brooks saddle and reduced gearing.

In six weeks we should have our bikes.

Now you would think that waiting six weeks is the worst part of this experience but it isn't. Curbside happened to have two Moultons on the show room floor and one was the TSR 2 in orange. They asked me if I wanted to test drive it but I knew if I did I would have walked out with that bike in my hands.

Yea, good to have a second bike to Loan the GF, and to friends that visit.
Especially since they are so easy to store between GFs and visitors.

Good choice, my wife and I have been having the same discussion :P

She likes the Pink too  I will probably opt for the 6 speeds with reduced gearing. We have a trip scheduled to both NYC and Boston a bit later this year, that will be our chance to determine which handle bar set up she wants. I am probably going with the P bars, though I do want to see how the H bars fit.

I have had my M3L-X for a couple of weeks now.

I am in the process of converting it to a M2L-X taking the parts off my steel M2L. Also doing another interesting conversion on it. More details later.

I also have a TSR2 though I ditched the rubbish S2C hub and replaced it with the much better SRAM A2.
