Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - BASSO frameset 52 TT

Hi, I'm looking into purchasing a bicycle but not too sure on what to look for. I've been reading a lot on SB and My Ten Speeds but still need some help. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the year to this BASSO and some general info on it.

The bicycle comes with a Campagnolo headset and Shimano crankset. What do you believe the value is to this frame? Seller is asking $175.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I definitely agree with you. But is the frame worth rebuilding? I'm not too sure if its a good frame for the price...

seller couldn't sell it for $575, so, I suppose it's worth between 300-500. No idea what model it is?

The eBay Basso is grade A condition. And I believe that GAP is their higher end models. The one I'm looking at has some cosmetic flaws (paint). The seller does not know the model of the frame. But I did ask for serial number so I can try figuring out what model and year it is.

As far as price a very wild guess would be a couple hundred dollars. How much is the seller asking?

I know the crank doesn't belong, but I'd keep it on there :) Someone went through the trouble of sourcing an Italian threaded external bearing BB for that crank. While I like vintage stuff a lot, I'm also a fan of improvements. And the Hollowtech cranksets fit that category for me.

There was recently a Basso frameset, that size, on the Buy/Sell here that sat for a good while at $200 asking. Very good looking frame but apparently it was a lesser model, can't remember the name, with Columbus 'Tretubi' framing, that is the main tubes of SL or one of their better tubes, but the rest from heavier tubing. Of course perfectly good and better than 90+% of what is out there and even a good deal at that price, but maybe not what someone wants if they want a "Basso". However...that one had a 'Rino' headset, which is a second-rank Italian supplier, and this one has Campagnolo. So it's probably not that 'lesser' model.

I agree, external's are the cat's meow. It's just going to look funny, but, lighter is better.
