Is there anyway we could convince you to not convert it :) seriously.

Great bike, wheres the original sante group?, thats worth quite a bit already. Easily worth over $200 complete with the original wheelset. Let me know if you want to get rid of the sante group though.

I agree that bike should not be turned into a SS or FG. For $30 you could have put a little elbow grease into cleaning and waxing that and maybe got $300 for it.

Any pics of the Sante group? I never saw a black Sante

At $30 you basically stole it. I don't mind FG/SS conversions but keep all the original parts in a box and DO NOT PAINT IT or modify the frame in any way. The Circuit was Schwinn's top of the line bike in '87 (below the Paramount frameset?) so this is a valuable bike. Sante is a lesser known group due to the rarity of it, it only existed for a couple years but it has a cult following. Complete, I would put the bike at $350-400.

Enjoy this amazing piece.

He "jacked" it??! Tell him that the old stuff was no good and trade him with some newer stuff to get it back to complete the bike as close to its original specs. In the end, the Sante group will most likely retain its value or have it go up more than most things newer you might want to spend on and put on the bike.......

If you're running this as a single speed and not a fixed gear you really should have a rear brake.

You definitely don't have Sante components. I believe they were only on Circuit models for two years (1988 and 89) when the frame was red and fork was chromed. I think you had the later model which had a lower quality gruppo. But for $30, its still a very nice bike!!!

Gorgeous frame, but I wonder if it's too big for you? That saddle is pretty low...

its just a hair to big for me but its very comfortable and it doesn't bother me at all . i have a rear brake for it but i have to get new pads on it so its not on it at the moment . im pretty sure this is an 87 when I went looking online but i could be wrong.

Enjoy your bike. It's a great rider and a 1987. I have owned 2 black Circuits and still have a red one. Black came with Suntour Sprint. Good looking parts and worked really well. If your Buddy has the Sprint parts, get them BACK!!

Red one came with Sante which I sold for more more than the complete bike cost. They worked extremely well. The red one has had 9 speed STI, fixed gear and now 8 speed bar ends.
The photo is when it was stock.
