Hi folks,

I'm about to turn 30 and was tired of being overweight and unhappy. I got into cycling last year and found it's pretty much the only exercise that doesn't feel like a chore to me. I started off with what I call "one of the best road bikes you can get at Walmart" (like one of the best cuts of meat you can get at McDonalds), a Schwinn Varsity. I figured if I can enjoy cycling on a cheap, heavy bike and I really want to stick with it, I'll get something better. After about 500 miles, 4 tubes, 5 broken spokes, and countless readjustments, I decided it was time to upgrade. I sold my motorcycle (since if I'm going to have to choose between two 2-wheeled activities, I'll choose the one that doesn't contribute to fat) and picked up a 2011 Specialized Secteur Elite Comp from my local LBS. Loving it so far!

It feels good to ride the bicycle, wait for the first time you get to ride the Interstate 205 bike path, great southbound run,,,, you have to pedal the north bound ride.

Actually, I wasn't exact... I got the Secteur Comp Compact (http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCProduct.jsp?arc=2011&spid=51623) (http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCProduct.jsp?arc=2011&spid=51623). The extra Comp is for full 105, I guess. The frame and documents say Elite as well though. It's been really great so far, but then again, I only put about 100 miles on it before going on vacation. I'll be back home this weekend and I'm getting right back on it.

I've ridden that a bunch of times but just once on the new bike. "Have to pedal" is a bit of an understatement for the northbound ride though. If you've ever dropped a chubby guy mashing away on an ill-fitting Schwinn, that was me! It's a lot more comfortable now on the Secteur; still not a breeze but not torture either.
