I just got into flatland probably 2 weeks ago. I heard that a really good first trick is a fork glide. I've been trying a fork glide and i just cant get it, i either cant get the right foot on the peg or i just tip over. Can anyone give me a suggestion. Also, i ride probably a 15 yr. old GT dyno tour. I dunno if you've seen them but the pegs are about 2 inches long. after trying the forkglide so many times on the small pegs i have blisters on my feet. Can anyone suggest a nice set of big pegs that can take a lot of pain..a lot of pain.
Thanks for your help

cheack out http://flatlandfuel.com for the pegs

as for the fork glid do you use front brakes? if you do just go 90 degrees spin holding the brake and start scuffing your tire while feathering your brake and keeping you body centered....

another great beginer trick is peg manuals and flatland bar spins

heres a mad old video of us riding http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/mtthrtly66/bmxcrewlong.wmv

and also http://BMXTrix.com has tips for this trick

thanks a lot for your help and no i haven't been using brakes. Are there any pegs suggested for beginners or is it all rider preference?

If you are on a budget, the cheapest fully knurled (the grip that is etched into aluminum is called knurling) aluminum pegs should make you much happier. You will likely need a new axle and some axle nuts as well though as older bikes tended to have short axles on them.

eBay has some VERY good prices on cheap aluminum pegs. I got some for under 10 bucks a pair that I used for two or three years.

Like these:

Just search for bmx pegs and pick a set that is aluminum and threadless.

Oh - and check out everything at www.bmxtrix.com :) Besides plugging my site, I have heard it is good from several thousand people. Need to get some new videos up though.
