Foo - oh man, i think i've become a junkie...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

as a musician, i get terrible G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome) for more basses, more amps, etc. or not even "more" as much as "other".
i think my bike G.A.S. is worse. :twitchy: there's nothing at all wrong with my current ride, nor my "other" ride, and yet i find myself drooling over newer, sleeker bikes.
surely there's a support group for this? please help before the n+1 bug gets me...

i don't have any current pics of the stable, but among them is:
Ibanez Destroyer
Musicman 'Ray 34
Ibanez 5-string fretless
Made in Korea Fender Jazz (project)
my GAS really is about "different" than "more". i don't think i've ever owned more than 5 or 6 basses at once, but in the course of about 5 years, i think i owned between 40 and 50 different ones. :D

That 5 string fretless sounds interesting (as someone who played double bass in the orchestra many years ago).

it's literally never been played. i bought it for a specific gig that never materialized and it's been sitting completely unused in the bag since i brought it home. :(

Can I point at it?

As long as you don't have to sell yourself to fund your addiction, you're fine.

N+1 is evil. There have been 8 additional acquisitions since this photo. Between bikes and this, storage is an issue.

all of those have too many strings. and they're too skinny

Actually... it's a guitar I built. I hang around Wayne Henderson's shop a bit. He'd gotten several Les Paul bodies, necks, and the like from a guy who used to work at gibson. In the pile was the red hollow body, just the body. I built it up as a Gibson, but it most certainly is not one of their body styles. My best guess is that it's a Supro Clermont body. I have no idea how a Gibson employee came to possess it. It's built with gibson components, but the wrong body. Being the first thing I built, it's a little crude.

That's actually the junkiest guitar of the lot. The body is made of painted plastic... and not the cool Maccaferri kind.

One of the 8 acquisitions is a 50's Kay Swingmaster Upright if that makes things any better.
