I know some of you are in mild climates and weather is seldom a problem for riding. However some are afflicted with Winter and take different approaches to dealing with it. Some ride right on through the nasty stuff (me) and some hang their bike in the garage until Winter is over.

And yes, riding a trainer counts.

When was the last time you were on your steed?

Portland Oregon is good for riding 365 days a year, if you don't mind riding in the rain occasionally. About every 10 years or so we get enough snow to keep me off my bike for a couple of days.

Today, to school, to the doc, then up to my house.
Happy because I can now climb the whole way without using my inner chainring.
It is very wet here right now BTW

I hate winter in DC. It's dark when I'm at home and it's cold and nasty. That's not my biggest reason for not riding now though. I have a commitment to my wrestling team which occupies a lot of my time and almost all of my athletic energies from November through February. I'm lucky if I'm home by 630/7 at night and then I have to do a bunch of homework till late at night. There just don't seem to be enough hours in a day sometimes, especially when I'd like to try and squeeze in a few miles on the bike.

For now I'll just dream of the warm days of Spring and DC's 95 degree summer days with 95% humidity...mmmm that would feel pretty nice right about now. I'm just a warm weather person I guess, I would rather be sweating it out on the steamiest of summer days than shivering on even a slightly nippy winter ride.

Rode yesterday in the freezing rain and wrote this (http://www.davidrmunson.com/bloodinthesnow/archives/000459.html) when I got home. I wish I could ride every day, but since I got back to Missouri it's maybe once every week or more if I'm lucky. I have to drive ten miles just to get to an area where I actually feel safe to ride. I really miss riding in Chicago, taxis and all.

Did the standard 20 mile up and down commute this evening. Even had a couple guys tagging along at one point. 35 degrees and dry. Nice.

There's a gap in your poll between 7 days and 1 month.

Nine this evening after an hour ride home. It was in the mid twenties though, so really quite mild. And dry.

Upper 60s in Atlanta. Absolutely beautiful weather. I've been riding over at Stone Mountain Park every evening.

I put the road bike up on the trainer and take the BMX bike out on the trails when there's some snow cover. Pretty much ride everyday, just not as far as in the summer/spring/autumn.

What i was trying to discover was how many people that frequent these forums are actually riding a lot this time of year as opposed to just talking about riding. I am not concerned with the intervals so much.

It is very interesting to see how many people have ridden in the past 24 hours. That's great!

Spent 45 minutes on the trainer last night and 20 minutes commuting to work this morning.

Oh if a trainer counts then last night. I just tend not to count that as a ride.

Ahhhhh!!!! It's killing me I haven't been on my bike since Thanksgiving but then I only rode a very short distance because wind + cold air = windchills and that never means anything good for a cyclist. My last real ride was probably back in August. I can deffinatly say that the biking withdrawl symptoms are at their highest right now. :p

Put fenders on my bike last night, so I have no excuse this winter. They kept my backside dry on today's commute. I ride because I can.

Just got back from a ride. The winter in Lithuania is unusually warm this year, slightly above freezing point for over two weeks now. Could not resist a temptation to try the fancy Cateye's rear blinkie that I received in the mail today, did my usual commute to work, saw some suburban areas, visited local parks. A computer read 104km, pretty nice - happened to do another metric century this year! Back to regular business next week, the pace will definitely slow down.

Rode 15 miles last night. It was about 8 degrees. I wasn't cold but the wind was kind of rugged.

I definitely spend more time on these forums than on the saddle. I need help.

I rode about 4 hours ago. 5 F and sunshine. 0 face plants. :D Ice and snow on everything. It took me 1 hr and 55 minutes to go 20 miles. I headed out into the rural countryside to join the cows and wildlife for awhile. It is strange how the untreated gravel roads out in the county are much easier to navigate than the treated city streets. Wierd... I had the studded tires down to 22 lbs and with the snow it made for a long but very enjoyable ride.

And to think....today was supposed to be my day off from riding?

I ride at least once a week. I'll generally get out once on the weekend, and try and leave early from work one day during the week for a ride on the way home. Since my commute is through a pretty rural corner of the East Bay, I have a couple of nice options. Perfect for this time of year, with short daylight.

If the weather is good (dry), I'll pull my son in the Burley on our loop around town. on weekends. Lately we've been swamped with rain, but I still got out to a local regional park this past weekend for a 12 mile slogfest. Beautiful sunny weather, tough conditions, lots of fun.

This weekend I'll likely ride at China Camp in San Rafael, rain or shine. Trails there drain pretty well. A typical ride there will be 8 to 15 miles.

It's summer here, but in Queensland the summer is the unpleasant time of year to ride. Rode to work today though. The humidity's been at around 1000% this week and temps in the 30's C with the occasional storm. COME ON WINTER!

I rode this morning. Four inches of fresh snow, on top of the 4 inches we had two days ago. It was an interesting ride.

I just got back from a 22 mile (35.4 km) ride. First of the year, but that's only becuase my commuter was in the shop. It had snowed 1" or so last night, and even though it had mostly melted by the time I went it was was still pretty. I took pictures, maybe I'll put up a ride report in the rec rides forum. I also did my shopping for the week while I was out :)

Well as far as I can tell I used it to get around the neighborhood before this storm settled in on Friday the 7th of January.

Can you tell that my brain is pretty much in the "twilight zone" right now???

Despite the terrible predictions, it really didn't rain too much here in the Bay Area this weekend. As long as I can get out and warmed up, I don;t mind a little rain. Since the daytime highs have been in the mid to upper 50's, It's only my toes that get cold.

I managed to get two rides in --- 65 & 55 miles this weekemd --- but because of the wetness I haven't ridden up into the mountains since Christmas Eve. It's geeting kind of boring doing the same route over and over again. Maybe next time I'll do it counterclockwise!
