Introductions - Hello from Northeast Ohio...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I really enjoy reading the wealth of information on this BB.
I'm interested in getting a Touring Bike eventually.
It's a good forum with lots of good info. What part of Northeast Ohio?

Hello...is this Co-op geared towards any group of cyclists? ie., Novice or someone just starting out or no particular experience? I'm very new to cycling and I have ALOT to learn.
Thanks
-Carol
I bought my first bike (as an adult) from the coop. They are very much geared towards the novice. I learned alot through the coop and had a great time doing it. The coop is in the flats, by the westside market.

The co-op is for anyone and everyone.
Saturday rides are very casual and there is usually coffee and a snack before the ride.
Enjoy

Hello Everyone!
I live in the flats -on the west bank. I'm looking forward to a Saturday cruise with you all.
I am in the process of getting a bike for my husband. 1/21 is his birthday. I think I have narrowed down my selection to a Trek 3500. It was not easy because he is big -at 6'3" and 297lbs!
Anyway, I plan to surprise him with the new bike on Friday the 21st. Perhaps I will see you all the Saturday afterwards. How far do you all usually go?
The only thing that makes me remotely reluctant is that we are so new to biking, we have not learned how to maintain our bikes.
I know the co-op has classes to instruct how to change tires and all and we are looking forward to them -at least I know that I am. Hey, can I expect to learn how to use the lastest technology such as those tiny cansisters of oxygen? Also, can I expect to learn what to carry in my road kit in case of emergency.
I ask these questions because eventually, I would like to take some longer rides -say 35-50 miles.
Write soon.
Be Ready!

The Sat. co-op rides vary weekly depending on the participants and weather (5 - 25 mi).
Loaner bikes are available and no-one is left behind.
We sometimes stop for breakfast or a snack if the group desires.
There are plenty of riders that are happy to help with maintenance issues.
The little cannisters carry CO2 (the same gas in soda dispensers) and are used for quickly inflating tires.
If you have one we can demonstrate how to use it but many of us just carry pumps on our bikes.
The most important thing to carry IMO is a phone.
Other than that a spare tube, pump, tire levers, patches, cement, and maybe a couple small wrenches or a multi-tool should get you out of any trouble you find yourself in.
The co-op sponsors several longer rides during the year and "NorthCoast Sports" magazine lists rides sponsored by other cycling organizations. (you can pick up a copy at the OCBC on Sat.)
Enjoy
See you on Sat.
Heh heh. Actually I've been cruizing the neighborhood on the fixie to strengthen me legs and am working on my little commute. I'll definately post some pictures when I ride up (or down!!) Pikes Peak! heh.
I've been enticing Aaron with tales of the Triple Bypass Ride: 120 miles through three passes, 10K of climbing!
