Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Daily Commute

After reading Ranger's poll (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=82054), I was wondering I many people are still riding on the road and how many only use trainers and other exercycles this time of year.
I ride to work almost every day and every weekend. It hasn't been too cold yet to keep me inside. The coldest temps have only been ~20F (-7C). Just wear layers.
On the weekend I wait until about noon to ride so the temperature can start climing. Some days it climbs into the high 30s - low 40s (~4C), some days its in the 50s - 60s (12-16C).
This week the morning lows have only been ~40F (4C) and the ride home temps have been ~65F (18C). I'm lovin' it! :D

I SOOOO wish. It has been <40* F and raining here since the 2nd. I rode considerable rides on the 29th, 30th, 31st and the 1st. Toady I woke up to 30* and raining, schools are closed and there is ice on everything. Supposed to warm up (which is realy odd for Jan in PA) and be a little dryer for the weekend so hopefully I can get out.

It was a little colder up here in MA so we got the snow through the night and into the morning. Now it's starting to come down as sleet and it's supposed to turn into nasty freezing rain by the afternoon.

If it is over 40 degrees and not raining I'll ride outside. Anything less climate I'll ride the "mountain bike" on the all purpose trail. For example, I rode the raod Friday, New Year's, and Sunday (I'm an hour north of you).

I ride whenever it's >25°F -and- dry. If it's wet on the road, >40°F. If it's raining, 60°F.
The past several days have had an average high of 25°F, low of 0°F, and snowing :(
I can't wait for spring! At least this weekend should be drier and a high of 50°F :)

I ride to work every day - don't own a car, so the bus in my only other option. I have yet to take it, even since they installed those nifty bike racks on them. I almost feel obligated to use it now, just try those out. Plus, I rarely see any bikes on them...

I ride my fixed-gear to school and work, and if the weather is decent, I'll take my Specialized outside.
Oh, I rode outside yesterday, even though it was 40 F and pouring outside. My girlfriend called me stupid, and in turn I told her that I was committed.

I had to answer 48 hours. I have worn out the tire on my commuter and it blew out at home and I haven't had a chance to get to the LBS and get a replacement. boo hoo.
Anyway, in two winters of riding here, it has never gotten too cold for me to commute. That includes a few days of temperatures below 20 degrees Farenheit. However, some types of snow that isn't cleared off the trail I have to use on my commute will cause me to have leave the bike at home.
Actually longer than what i selected because i have been: 1. recoverying from a knee problem, and 2. I have the pedals on the bike, that took a while(ordering part) then i have the shoes and i have the cleats, all i have to do is install the cleats. If that doesnt work then i have to go to the bike shop on sat and do a "test ride thingy" and get them adjusted. Does that answer your question?

It's still pretty warm down here in Houston for the most part. We had 70-80's last week.

Ok I think it may be illegal to have a snowman as your avatar if you live in Houston. :D

No snow here. Rode on Xmas Eve, New Year's Day, several of the days in between, and several after. Am just about to head out for a ride now, too . . . one of the rewards of paying so @#$%^&* much to live here!

Whats this thing you call a....road!...
Even during on season, I avoid the road like the plague. I don't think I have ridden on a road in 2 years. More than likely onl 5% of my total riding even goes on pavement.

just got back from a 20 miler on my fixed gear. finally got a break from the rain here in l.a.(i can't believe i'm even saying that.)
The winter is pretty mild with basically no snow and positive C temperatures. I am too lazy to switch the tires, too bad: I fear I am ruining my studded Nokians. Hope it gets icy before I finally decide to put my regulars back on. :D

I wanted to go road riding on my fixie this afternoon but it was freezing here that I decided to do my usual 6 mile run instead. For us folks in SoCal, 55 degrees during the day is freezing...

The daily high here has been around 10 F with a windchill below zero.
Some people still commute. Not me.

It got a bit hot, about 80F, here today. I waited for some clouds to appear before going to work. Fricken sweaty.

They have those here. My commute is 32 miles one way by car, and I have been thinking about taking a bus part way and riding the rest if I can find a bus with a bike rack that's going in my direction to get me through the more ridiculous parts of town. You take your life in your hands just driving there so I wouldn't want to try riding.

I went riding tonight, 44 F when I started, dropped to 40 F mid way and on top of a huge hill 35 F... 55 is freezing... nah! Short Weather!

I went for a ride yesterday - just in the neighborhood though, for about 20 minutes. I try to ride at least once a day, if only for a little while.
EDIT: It was about 40F out, but muddy. Some people in a truck decided to chop up the ground in front of my favorite jump, making it impossible to ride without getting myself and the bike soaked with water and mud.
