Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Just got these, your opinion?

Has anyone else gotten them? If so, how are they for performance and reliability? I've been having a hard time finding any 8-speed 700c wheelsets, so I pulled the trigger on these. Got them for a little more than $90, including shipping.

Not the lightest things in the world but like you, I found the price was right and I like the look of the white rims & black spokes/hubs($140 from the same guys I think).

meta, what is your riding weight? I'm at about 175lbs, hoping that's light enough to avoid problems. Thanks for the feedback.

These pretty decent wheels for the price. The only thing is when you buy new wheels cheap off the internet is they are usually not prepped like they are from a bike shop. Meaning you will likely need to true the wheels and maybe service regrease and adjust the hubs. But don't worry too much on a new set of wheels it is pretty easy you just need a spoke wrench and a a little time and patiance.

I agree, I'm prepared to take them apart and see the condition of the loose ball bearings and grease. I also have a trueing stand and know how to use it. For the price, they're apt to be a decent wheelset. I'm putting them on a frame and then I'll flip it. Hopefully the new wheels will be a great selling point!

Too black, too aero and not enough spokes. But not a bad price.

Decent 700c alloys and good tires are great selling points on a flipper and add about $75-$100 to the selling price which doesn't really cover the cost if you buy source new.

Heavy, probably not aero, probably not durable (not enough spokes), cheap no-name hubs, etc. I wouldn't put these on a bike for myself, I would look at used wheelsets instead. But for a bike you are just going to sell I'm sure they'll be ok.

Clydesdale territory - you'll be fine.

The set just arrived. I immediately checked the weight: rear is 1280gm, front is 1030gm
Then I checked the axles, they were so tight that I can't believe that someone would actually use them straight out of the box. I pulled them apart, and they had very little grease. So, I lubed them up, adjusted the cones to be just right, spin the front wheel on a frame, they seemed to want to go forever. Checked for true, they were just fine, about as advertised, .3mm.

I'll not use them on my own bike, they're way too heavy! I'll stick to the Shimano R-500s.

Thanks for the help, hope this helps anyone out there who needs some cheap wheels, and CAN do the work themselves! I'm pretty sure that a bike shop would've loved to make another $30-40 getting these wheels ready for business...
