I have a couple of frames that I am interested in getting sprayed all fancy schmancy like and would like to see some stimulating ideas. No spray bomb and no powder, I'm looking for high quality paint applied in a professional manner. Let us know who sprayed it and where they are located.

PS. My apologies if this has topic has been covered previously, my search did not prove very fruitful.

Thanks,
Anthony

Hey, sloar: show him your do-it-yourself-Colnago Super :)

The following two frames were repainted by Ryan at Elliott Bay Bicycles (home of Davidson custom frames) in Seattle:

This guy is amazing. $350-$500 dependent upon what you want.
Just be prepared to wait a couple of months or more (which is common)

Full strip, to chrome, two primers, 2 base, decals, 4 clear.

not really a custom paint job. just a respray that i did in my garage. 3 coats of primer,4 coats of color, decals then 7 coats of clear and handpainted details. i think i had 70 bucks in paint. i think it was dupont ready spray paint that you can get by the quart at auto zone. i have a sandblasting cabinet big enough for a frame. im getting ready to do my ciocc and i'm going to document it a little better with a thread.http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m615/sloar1070/craigssuper4.jpghttp://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m615/sloar1070/craigssuper3.jpghttp://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/m615/sloar1070/DSC00722.jpg

Robbie,

Have you had a two tone Ironman resprayed? One of the frames I am looking to paint is a green and white fade Ironman expert.

I agree. Orange and blue... of course, but the gold accents, white wrap, and gum hoods really set it off.

What a gorgeous machine you have here, good sir!
May I inquire as to the type of handlebar tape you are using?

I love the choice of threading, a great compliment to the bike :D

Thanks!

Thanks - I like her. The threading is on the subtle side, but it really works for it.

That would be the fine work of Ray at Handlebra...the one thing is, I recommend leaving some form of padding under his tape, as it's quite thin. I think the fancy word is tactile...another word might be numbing.

http://handlebra.com/

I like it a lot more than I liked the Brooks stuff, it's much better at handling moisture/sweat.

At the rate my painter is going, my Croll may not be ready for this riding season.

Should have just dropped it off at Chris Kvale's last February!

Not telling the color/s either. It's a secret. :)

I'm surprised this is thread is so short so here is my contribution. 1989 Cinelli SC, I don't know who did the the repaint (I bought it from another forum member) but I'm very happy with the end result.

Paint and real gold leaf lug lining by DR. Deltron. There's way too much clear coat, but it's my fault. I asked for it. He's a bit of a nut case, but I was into hot rods for years and I've never known a custom painter that wasn't. I don't know if he is still painting.

Waterford Precision Cycles did a number on this 1940 frameset; I bought it with a nasty black krinkle spraybomb paint job.

CyclArt in California did a custom paint job for me a few years ago. They used dark blue Imron paint, which shifts color depending on how the light strikes it, and pearl blue for the lugs, outlined in gold. I had them make the lettering in the same light blue outlined in gold. I also had them accent the fork and some of the pantographed parts in gold.

Here is my Basso Gap and it was painted by American Beauty Cycles before I got it. I think they were/are located in Madison Wisconsin. Nice work on this typical 80's 2 tone paint fade. If you told me you were going to paint my bike green and purple, I would have thought you were crazy, but it works very well IMHO...
