Hi all,
I am 42 year old male who used to love running and sports like soccer, surfing and racquetball. I haven't played any sports in the past 7 or 8 years due to a back injury that ended up in surgery. I have always been in decent shape but now I am getting rounder and rounder, and I am not liking it. Not too long ago I decided that I wanted to bike, and I got a bike exercise machine. I guess you know what comes next, after being the outdoorsy type for almost all my life I realized that this was a bad and boring idea. I ended up dropping it as I couldn't handle it anymore (kind of like going to the gym, I can't do that. It is either too boring or too distracting if you know what I mean). I think I am now ready for a real bike, but I have some concerns (I will make another thread to discuss).

Other than that I work in technology (but I will not fix your computer :) ) and I play some electric guitar to vent from the daily stress, but I am not that good at it yet. I like cars, music and electronic gadgets and boobies make me happy.

Howdy fcarpio,

Welcome to Bike Forums.

Many have found that the forward lean on a road bike helps strengthens your core and keeps back problems in control.

I ride with two herniated disc's.

Got in 121 miles yesterday. 378 miles for the week.
