Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Mrs. Hill-Pumper going Roadie (I may have lost my bike)

I'll start with a little background here. Last year my wife and I decided to do a 40 mile organized at the last minute. Her longest ride was about 2 miles to that point, and amazingly she did 26 miles out of the 40 before calling in the SAG wagon. Anyway, she said that she wanted to finish it this year. A couple of weeks ago,she asked if I would let her ride my road bike for the event. So today I started working with her on shifting and positioning, as well as dismounting/mounting out of the saddle. I put her on my cross bike because I could not get the pedals off the roadie. The cross is a little tall for her, and the saddle has not feeling good to her. Afterwards, I had her just stand over the road bike to get a general feel of it. Her first impressions were far more favorable. So it looks like she will be taking over the roadie after I put a women specific saddle on for her and dial in the fitting. Hopefully, she will be piping in here to share her thoughts about the whole thing and become active on the forum for the support that I have found here. I am really proud of her effort to make this happen.:love:

There are much worse ways to lose a bike. :)

Congrats. Agree with the tandem prediction. I'm having an easier time getting my wife out riding since we got one.

I think it pretty much official, I had Mrs. pumper on the road bike tonight and she LOVED it. One hundred percent better according to her. She did say that I could barrow it if I needed to until I can get a bike built up for myself. We will hold off on a tandem for awhile, but we my need on in the future anyway if we want to take my youngest daughter along.

That is not out of the question either, we just need to see how she like riding a roadie first. I am going to do some up grades for her for now, and if she wants a new bike, then we will proceed from there. IF I get a new bike, it most likely be a new frame with eBay parts to get it going.Again, IF is the big word here. The most important here is to get her comfortable and enjoying a nice bike. :)
