Mountain Biking - So SRAM bought Truvativ, too, huh?

All they need to start making now is hubs, and they'll really be competition for Shimano.

Really right now shimano has to start making forks. Almost eveyr rider out here I know has switched now except the pure xc guys. Shimano better pull their pants up they are loosing a lot of riders in bc and washington.

so what all do they own then? rock shox, sram, and truvativ?

I heard about that, i really like the Truvativ cranks and BB's i hope SRAM carries on their good work with that company :)

And Mael, ive noticed that over hear as well, even though SRAM has only been over here for maybe... 2-3 months in a proper way, they have already gained many of my friends respect, although, they sound good i ahvent tried their products, we will find out soon enough though!

I am very happy with the sram stuff I own. Shifters, derailleur, chain, cassette and a rock shox but thats owned by sram so that also counts. I dont think this will dissapoint anybody

Truvativ has a great reputation as it is... being owned by a larger company such as SRAM will most likely only help matters... their products will hopefully be even more widely available than they are now. Also, as far as I know, Truvativ as it is will stay intact meaning none of their current engineers will be losing their jobs or anything. I personally see it as a great acquisition. I like how SRAM has kept the product names intact instead of marketing everything under the "SRAM" brand name. :)

I like the Tru Vativ Cranks so hopefully Shimano and them can wage a price war and bring competitive pricing!

shimano should not be making forks. they have no experience in it, and would be a waste a of money.

Let's see here, if shimano made suspension forks:

1)Everything would be proprietary.
2)They'd try to sue every other competitor even when that company has the patent for Anti-trust violations and/or patent infringement.
3)Each fork would only last one season if used regularly.

Bike components is not the only industry where that kind of product persists ...

I am pretty sure that a greater proportion of the total run SRAM gear (inc Avid, RS, Truvativ), than the proportion of the total that run Linux.

Let's hope not... we don't need a MS bike. We'd have to rebuild it every few months... and both wheels would just randomly lock up in the middle of a trail, everything would look perfect, but removing and re-installing both wheels would fix the problem.
