Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Bianchi

So, who can tell me about this un ID-able bianchi and if it's worth $150. If possible, I'd like to know what the frame is made of and what components were on it when it came out.

The style of the decal is interesting but I agree it looks like a lowerend model maybe with a HiTen frame. More and better pics?

I think it depends on where you live. In this area, a Bianchi, even a low end one, with downtube shifters certainly would be flirting with a $150 asking price. Things like tire condition, relubing of the bottom bracket and hubs would make a difference. Hi-ten framed road bikes and entry level chromoly main tube bikes are easily bringing $100 and higher. But that's near Raleigh, a bike riding area. Other areas, such as more northern states and areas without three major universities may not have as much demand.

Bianchi, like Raleigh, and Peugeot and everyone else who got into mass produced bikes did make entry level stuff, such as the one pictured. I have owned a few entry level Bianchi bicycles, including a couple of seventies something Sprints (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/Feature_Bicycles/Feature_Bicycles_Itlay/Bianchih_Bicycles/Bianchi_Sprint/BIANCHI_SPRINT_1_Start.htm). My guess is the bicycle presented by the OP is similar to the Sprint models that I had...

That looks like a pretty good match with the pictures. But then again.. all the creamy green Bianchi's I've seen in the catalogs differ only slightly. Well I think I'll pass on this one. Thanks for the info!

I would not call them crappy but as Randy's say everyone makes lowend bikes. A basic Bianchi Special in the early '80s was still a nicer bike than a roadmaster or huffy from K mart.

Keep looking, picked up my 88 super sport with all tri-color for $25.00 at a yard sale.

Interesting to see the pricing differences from city to city.
In Vancouver people are selling Apollos and low end Nishikis in the 250-350 range and getting it.
I'm not sure how these compare with this particular Bianchi.
Here you'd easily get 250 for that bike if you flipped it just because of the novelty of the name.
