its taped on a video cam and then converted into mpeg2 format, so you can't expect the best but I can get more air than that next time i'll try using my sister's digital camera

Hate to break it to you, but whoever took the pic took it too soon, your back wheel is still on the curb. Good start though. You're next task is to find a shorter stem if you're going to be jumping unless you enoy hyperextending your elbows. Also if you haven't yet slam the saddle if you're going to be jumping, it makes the landings so much easier on the body..

I stand corrected. After looking again, I have to say put your damn helmet on. Your noggin does not get along too well with pavement.

Heheheh...this picture looks like a shot from american most wanted...or any of those cop shows...

Good air though, much more than what I usually pull off curbs :D

nice..wear a helmet. I do -even going to the corner store, nevermind jumping.

I wear a helmet every time I ride now.. seeing some sad photos of a person who didn't wear one, and apparently crashed and got run over after that... not that I'd probably get run over, but it can't hurt to wear a helmet.

thats a great curb! make a 4 foot jump with a sharp lip and you're set!

I weigh 130... I don't have as much problem getting air but I'm not exactly a great jumper by any stretch of the imagination. :p

Umm, yeah... One, I don't have the cajones to do such a thing.. and two, no bike in the world is gonna withstand such a jump with a 400 lb fat guy on it! :p So no such jumps for either of us.

Huck it! huck it! huck it!

I love drops personally, can do a 4ft drop now without even thinking about it, you'll find once you hit one, you'll want to hit bigger and bigger! :) My next target is 6ft.. all this is 2 weeks! :)

I'm looking for some bigger stuff to hit. The best drop I ever came accross was a roadgap which was about 1.5m high, but the landing went for ever. After the race was over we moved the track markers and straight lined into it for a long time. We ended up doing things like 3m drops with no handers and no footers.

MadMan2k
01-10-05, 05:35 PM
Biggest I've done was about 6 feet to a landing.. I had a ramp set up at the top of this little hill, it kicks you up and out, and by the time you come down, you've dropped about 6 feet, and maybe 5 horizontally.

I also made a jump without a landing that puts you about 3.5-4 feet up, and pretty far over.

When I get better at manuals/low speed dropping, I'll try dropping out of the bed of our truck.

Smart. And people get whacked by cars riding to the snack store too so keep it on.
I use a bmx Pro-Tek, it's a hard smash-out shell and has more side protection than the road \casual helmets.

Some shin guards are nice if you are platform. Those removable pins on the bmx style platforms (mine) can really punch a hole in ya when\if you come off a pedal.
