We rode 53 miles this morning in the Spindletop Spin in Beaumont Tx. Flat terrain, moderate winds althought there was about ten miles worth of gusty 20 mph winds toward the end of the route. This is our longest ride so far since we've been riding together for the past nine months or so. She was all smiles at the end of the route so I guess thats good!

Congratulations to you and your wife! I know that feeling of elation in beating your best. When my husband and I rode 80 miles of the MS ride last year, we were all smiles when we finished. It was such a feeling of accomplishment and we were amazed at how good we felt afterward, physically and mentally. If I am not mistaken, your wife did her ride on the same bike as I did mine--an aqua Trek Lexa, yes?

Thanks! Yes, she rides the Trek Lexa. I was really pleased as we completed the 53 miles in just a little more than 4 hours.

Interesting thing happened today on the ride... I got deputized as a deputy sheriif at the second rest stop.

Mr. Deputy Sheriff, Sir!
Looks like a great time. I'm trying to get my wife interested in riding, but no luck so far.
I rather like your sun glasses... brand and style?
Thanks.

They are Tifosi Tyrants. They have interchangeable lenses from clear, to rosie for low light conditions, to the ones in the pic for bright light conditions. Click on the hyperlink above.
Thanks for the compliment... I am really lucky my wife likes to ride...:thumb:

All I can say is WOW!! Beautiful wife. All we need to complete the picture is a 50+ jersey, but perhaps your wife doesn't qualify?

Well done. Togetherness on separate bikes is a challenge.
Way to go on the personal best for the both of you. It's such an awesome feeling each time you achieve that level. My first 50 mile ride was a double half century MS 150 about a year-and-a-half ago. Prior to that, the furthest I had ridden was 32 miles. I crossed the finish line, on the first day, with a grin from ear to ear. I didn't have a pie after that ride, but the steak dinner I had that night was awesome. I hope that you guys enjoyed your pie reward after the ride.
Some aches and pains are likely to crop up in the next day or two. Do a short ride at a very easy conversation inducing pace.

Your right, it is challenging but we ride as a team, she is getting stronger and her skill in staying in my draft has really improved. Most of the way we were riding between 15mph to 18mph. We also ride with some great friends in our group. There was one leg where I felt the "need for speed";) and cranked it up to 20mph or 21mph for about 5 miles. I wouldn't have done it if it weren't for a group rider staying back with her. Its really fun on long rides to have a good group to peleton with.

Didn't get the pie for this one, but had a full rack of ribs last night for dinner...:thumb: Saving the pie for a really special occasion!:)
