Track Cycling: Velodrome Racing and Training Area - Track Gear Bags

What is everyone using? Is the EAI one still the only one? Supposedly there's some guy at the Giordana velodrome who is making them, but I can't find any info. When I was at the track yesterday I saw one, and they gave me his first name, but couldn't remember his last name. Spencer or something I think.

I've heard complaints the EAI one is a little small. Right now my cogs and chainrings are just in a big re-usable shopping type bag, and I'm afraid I'm gonna damage them.

There are local messenger bag makers in most major cities. If you are interested in getting one with all your features find one you like.

I have an EAI Track Tote. Just fits a Shimano TL-SR22 1/8" Chainwhip in the top Chainring pouch plus Chainrings and cogs.

Expensive for what it is, but well made and fine for what I need. Stores 15mm spanner, chainrings 48-51, cogs 13-15, allen keys, chainwhip and Shimano TL-FC20 chainring tool.

I have an EAI one that I won a few years ago. It is a little small-- it would be nice if the chainring pockets were a little bigger, or gusseted. It's not too bad though. I've never used all the cog pockets, and I use a couple of them for lockrings (I don't use them, I just have them in the unlikely event someone decides to require them), and one for spare pump washers.

Here is the bag that Jeff at Gnome Bags made me. I designed it myself. I drew it in Visio when bored at work. He took the drawing and made a bag in no time. I had a friend order the same bag after he saw how mine turned out.

I just use an electricians toolbag. Big enough for my chainrings, and has multiple compartments that perfectly fit cogs, lube, tools as well as small pockets for little, easily lost items.

I use an EAI tote, and don't find it to be too small. Although the one "misc pocket" is a bit tall and narrow for what I want to use it for - storing cleat covers, valve cores, and chainring bolts. Stuff gets a little bit lost in there.

But for cogs, track tools, and chainrings, I think it's great.

I'm not sure. Mine was a special order (at the time) but I was VERY happy with the price. You guys may get some different colors, too. It depends on what materials he has on hand.

I'm new at track and have been using a Rudy Project bag that was a prime at a crit I won. It worked OK due to two pockets that I put cogs and small tools in but left the big space cluttered with rings and large tools. Now that I have a handful of rings, cogs speciality tools, and the usual stuff I need better organization. I took the chance and ordered the bag mentioned above.

Got my bag in the mail today - I was impressed. Much larger and sturdier than the pictures made it look like, as least to me.

I'll try to slowly fill it with components, and hopefully in a few years move to Chicago and start really using it. :-)

Glad to hear about the bag. I'm excited to get mine and start filling it.

Just thought I'd chime in. I received my bag today and while I don't have another bag to compare it to this is a really nice bag. It's very well made and feels heavy duty. If you've been debating I'd seriously consider ordering it, especially for the $30. Now I'm ready to buy more sprockets so I can start filling it.

I got my bag last week. It beats the Rudy Project bag I won as a prime in a crit. The bag holds everything and is easy to handle.

Hey all, thanks for great info on these bags so far. Allegheny Jet / Pantani98, would the Chicago Velo Campus bag keep the gear secure if you hung it on a work stand like the EAI bag does? Cheers!

I've got a Chicago Velo Campus bag too, and my only complaint is that my lockring tool and chain whip are too long and stick out of the bag a bit. Otherwise, there's space for more cogs and chainrings than you'd really need.

That one looks nice, and it's still on sale for $30. I might just have to pick one up.

I bought the bag and I love it, ALL my tools fit in it. The Park Cog/Whip simply needs to go in a slight angle.
