I'm going. Hopefully I can sleep on a friend in Logan Square's couch, otherwise it's going to be a hell of a trip for that early.

Ahh, have fun in the rainy city. A good place though. I need to go back to Seattle - seems like a place I could live in for a year or two. I fell in love with Pike Place Market, not to mention the huge ar REI store...

Is everyone excited?
It's gonna be so nice out.
Chalk it up to oversleeping - how was it my fellow riders?
Hardest 20 miles I've ever ridden. Ira did pretty well. Ira, How'd you fare in the end?

I got dropped at the cut from 13 to 6. It was a really fast series and I'm happy to have made it that far(there were 50 riders overall). I've been pretty dead all day, despite eating two huge meals and sleeping a three hours. Actually I feel fine now, but my bike needs a good cleaning from the slush and grime. I'm really excited about this season, you guys should try to make at least one race 'cause it is definitly worth the experience.
Oh and both Jeffs were there, way to represent :)
I'll be defnitely doing at least one at some point - today was not that day.
Did you race the yellow bike?
Go Jeff and Jeff!
I'm thinking of getting another ride together again this Sunday or so. i want to make it a consistent thing. Get in a few hours of riding.
good times all around.
way to go on the race Ira.
way to go Keevohn(?) on lending me a buck.
and hooray to me for waking up.
next stage Jan23rd.

it really was an excellent race. i missed the first cut by 2 people which was disheartening but considering i was fighting a sore throat its cool -- and i rode faster than i did last year so i'm happy with myself. it was exciting to still be able to enjoy the race even though i was eliminated. the final circuit was a blast.
i think there was a tribune writer there? any word on when/where that story will surface.
a great stage and a huge improvement on the prelude last month
The article is in today's trib. Did anybody take pics?

Next TdC ride is two weeks from now... tour.chicago.il.us
Prologue was great... rode really well for the first alleycat (Logan Square/Kopi roundtrip) and easily made the second round. But... got caught behind someone who wiped out three times in a hundred yard stretch at the beginning of the next race, and lost contact with the main group, ensuring elimination. Bummer. But, it was definitely fun to see Milwaukee Casey sprinting across the line in the final race, both hands in the air proclaiming Prologue victory. Good times.
Jeff - no prob.

Tour or DCC ride?
I was thinking Tour, but DCC too, for that matter. Does depend on weather, I guess, no? I haven't riden my track bike in the slush yet. How's it been?
Hasn't been too bad - after each ride, I wipe the bike down - no problem so far. Fishtailed a little here and there on the unplowed slushy streets but that's been fun.
Been thinking about maybe a Sunday ride, in the afternoon sometime or maybe a weekday night ride...

Did you race the yellow bike?
Nah that is for the stairmaster only :) I have been commuting on it though, blasting through snowdrifts and slush. I built a better fender mount for the front, hopefully this one won't fall off.
Digging up the old thread because a friend of mine (who I didn't know was doing the race) posted photos, nice - Ira, you're in there.

Damn, thanks for posting that. That's probably the only cycling action shot I've ever been in!
(you like my color-coordinated gloves and jersey?:))
