noob question.

Purchased a Specialized Sirrus base model 1 week ago & after about 17 miles it developed a clicking noise\feeling in the left pedal.
1. Is this something specialized shoulld warranty?
2. Should I go through Specialized or LBS (LBS is about 35 miles away)?
3. Or should I upgrade to new pedals? Through the search function, I find the MKS Sylvan Touring pedals are highly recommended.

Thanks in advance.

Call your LBS ahead and tell them what it is doing and I bet they make it right and might give you an idea to check if something is loose. It may not be the pedal making the clicking noise. Let us know what it was when you get it taken care of b/c I have a Sirrus too that I just bought a week ago and if I wouldn't mind knowing in case I encounter the same noise. Any issues I ever had with any of my Specialized bikes were taken care of by the LBS without any need to contact Specialized. Good Luck.

Just make sure it's not the kick stand or a length of cable that is moving in the path of your crank. That happened to me when I first bought my Sirrus Sport last year. If that isn't the problem then go thought the LBS you got it from

Sounds like another case of a wayward bit of sand caught in the bearings. Nothing that a complete overhaul won't take care of. You are about due for one anyway, eh?

I bought a Trek 7.5FX last June. Within a month one of the pedals started making a clicking noise with every revolution. The LBS replaced these pedals. Within the last month both pedals are now making clicking noises. I think the problem is poorly made pedals.

Check the length of excess cable on your front derailleur. I once had a one inch section of excess cable that was just long enough to hit the crank arms (it sounded like it was coming from the pedals too). I pushed the excess cable back slightly so it wouldn't make contact w/ any moving parts and the clicking sound disappeared.

Make sure it is the pedals - a loose seat and/or seat post can cause a clicking sound when you pedal - to check, pedal standing up, if no sound it is the seat.

I bought new pedals and the clicking stopped.

I'm in week 4 on a 2012 7.2, and I too have a left pedal that clicks. Fortunately it is my only complaint about the bike to this point.

If it's more of a deeper click/clunk sound when you push down the pedal just needs to be tightened. I got that sound when my wrench fit was too tight to completely tighten the pedals.
