Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - When fixed gear meets "hey, watch this guy"

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just one of those days.

Guy stops by with the IRO that I built up for him. Nice bike, flat bars with -25 degree threadless stem. I'm tooling around on it while it still has the headlight battery attached to the seat and I decide to see if a wheelie is possible. Bear in mind that I'm clipped into Eggbeaters and up, up, and over the bike goes. Hmmm, a bit too much pull on the bars perhaps. Bike flies forward and I do a nice ass plant onto frozen gravel. Snot rockets were flying as all had a good laugh. Bike left with a nice tatto on the rear of the seat (yes, I'll be fixing that later).

One more thing to mark off my list of ways to be-da-fool

I've done that. I was, however, on my own bike. I cursed loudly and acted like something was wrong with the bike. Nobody fell for it.

yep, I've done that. Just coming out of the pub, fooling around...
Landed right on my lock around my waist! left a deep purple bruise all the next week.

Wheelie worsts:
Did it wearing sweatpants -platform pedal, but the crotch of the pants caught over the saddle. I got my feet on the ground and started running as my stem tried to slap me in the face.
Then I had to pull my underwear out of my @$$.

haha, that reminds me of when i ate it last pub crawl. right after a "hey, watch this guys!" i tried to see how long i could balance riding with no hands and no feet. i went pretty far but wound up gracefully putting a foot in between a couple of front spokes when i tried to recover. totally shredded a new pair of pants. good times.
