Electric Bikes - Most affordable Kit for new rider.

I am looking to purchase an affordable (cheap) electric kit to get my feet wet in the electric bike world and would like to do so as cheaply as possible! Any tips as to what sites to look or where to find deals would be great! Thank you so much!

I've been telling members to go for the most powerful kit you can afford. Trust me, you'll want more power fairly quickly. If you are concerned about the torque and top speed just set the Cycle Analyst for example to restrict the power output. There are plenty of examples when you'll need more power and it will be easier to just change a setting on a computer than to swap out a hub motor, controller, etc.

My kit was a 48v 1000w Papamotor's (http://www.electric-bikekit.com/categories/48v-1000w-electric-bike-conversion-kit.html) kit from China. Their customer service has been amazing...far better than companies just a block from me here in the states.

i will be using the bike mainly on the weekends for recreation and it will be replacing the gas schooter that i use now.

Let papamotors know you won't need their free wheel; instead, order it from ebike.ca and also get the new cycle analyst from them too. I also bought their version 4 torque arms since the ones that Papamotors offers are for front wheel setups. Also, get Papamotors to give you a larger PAS magnet ring. Measure your bottom bracket and relay the dimensions to Papamotors. I had to dremel mine. If you use the PAS you will only use the thumb throttle to get you moving after you've stopped completely.

Order the cargo cache to hold the battery, controller, etc. If you'd like I can get you the same setup I built for my bike. I can put a price list together and you can pay for me to get the materials and shipping to you via PayPal once I have made the changes. I have a lot of extra material left over. Interesting, just thinking about making a bridgestone mb1 electric, have horses and running downhill in the trees is much more exciting then mt biking(to me, try it), just use it for camping and beach, but... the page is the order page, anybody else have anything to say about this front wheel drive ready to go gizmo?
