any recommendations for tires for the snow, I'll be riding my cross bike on the road for training but would hate to skid out on the snow and slush, recommendations?

Something designed for wet mud with wide knob spacing. Deep knobs too. If you have the cash Get Nokian studs if there is ice riding in your future. Learn to control the bike in a slide.

I've got Kenda Kross Supremes on my bike. They are pretty aggressive knobbies, 700cx35. In section, the tread pattern "squares" the tire, which makes for not great cornering on pavement.
I'd recommend you look at Continental Twisters. That's going to be my next pair of snow tires. They seem better suited for urban/road riding, and affordable if that is an issue.

Where I am a cyclocross wouldnt cut it Im riding a mtn bike and having a ruff time in the snow with big nobie tires. I can"t see me going anywhere on a narrower tire.I think of my cyclocross as my gravel roads road bike.
